Auction Rules
Bidding will commence at 7:00pm, and will close
promptly at 10:00pm with the removal of bid sheets
from the auction tables. Please fill out the bid sheets
clearly, listing all donor information and bids on the
lines provided. Bids must start at the stated minimum
and be in the increments listed for each item. The last,
highest qualified bidder on a bid sheet is the winner. Upon
closing of the auction, title to the items passes to the
acknowledged highest bidder, who then assumes full risk
and responsibility.
Conditions of Sale
Please bid generously. All proceeds go towards the mission
of the Darien Community Association. Payment in full
prior to the conclusion of the evening is mandatory. Cash,
check or credit card (Mastercard/Visa) will be accepted.
Items will be released to the winning bidder upon
payment. All items must be removed from the auction
site by the end of the evening. The Bootleggers’ Ball
Committee and Darien Community Association shall in no
event be responsible for the correctness of description
or dollar value estimates provided by donors, or the
condition of the items or services sold. In no event shall
the Bootleggers’ Ball Committee or Darien Community
Association, or anyone acting on its behalf, be liable for
any occurrence arising out of the use of the items or
services. All sales are final and binding. No refunds or
exchanges will be made on items except where specified.
Please read carefully all specifications and limitations.
Many items are sold subject to mutually agreeable terms
by the purchaser and donor on a space available basis.
Please make reservations as soon as possible to avoid
disappointment. Unless otherwise specified, all auction
items are to be used within one year.
DCA Scholarships
More than Seventy Years Helping College-Bound Students
The DCA is the largest provider of scholarships to Darien High
School graduates. On an annual basis, we offer funding to
both new and returning college students.
To date, the DCA has awarded over $2 million in funds, to
more than 1300 graduates. Made possible by donations and
revenues from the Thrift Shop, house rentals and various
DCA programs, scholarships are based on both merit and
need.
The DCA Scholarship Committee reviews applications and
conducts interviews for graduating seniors in May of each
year. In June, interviews take place for returning college
students who qualify for continued funding.
If you’d like to make a special donation towards DCA
scholarships, please visit the DCA Donations Cap displayed
in the silent auction room. We’ll celebrate your gift with a
little something to show your spirit of giving.
If you or your organization/business is interested in
establishing a named scholarship, please contact the DCA
office at [email protected] or 203-655-9050.
