Fun night with prize giving and supper. From the Managers Desk The Wednesday men had to unpack their wet weather gear but the next day we were back to sunscreen and sunglasses. It has been a great week and I would like to thank everyone for the friendly welcome to the club. Next week will see the last twilight competition of the year as we count down to the end of daylight saving, Easter Sunday will be the fundraising tournament and after Easter the course will be closed for renovations from April 7th to 10th. Friday evening from 5-7pm there will be drinks and nibbles while we say “see you later” to Ron and Muriel and I look forward to seeing you there. Greens Report The course is starting to recover from the summer stress with a nice 100ml of rainfall recorded over the past couple of weeks. Placing should be in place for a few more weeks until the bare patches have recovered. Renovation week starts on Tuesday 7th April volunteers needed to help with path extension and core collecting please contact John Sheargold. The Pine trees were successfully dropped beside the 16th hole the contractors will be splitting and taken away loads in the afternoons. The path behind the 11th white will be widened to allow carts through to the car park, the path will be closed off during work please be careful when walking in front of the white tees. The right hand fairway bunkers on 5 are both G.U.R we are joining them both together and filling them up to produce a big waste bunker, this will benefit both golfers and greens staff to become more playable and easier to maintain. On Saturday the 7th March 2015 sees the start of The Ohope Cup to be run in conjunction with the Mens Saturday Haggle. This competition is based, (loosely), on the Fed Ex Cup, whereby players collect points throughout the year based on their position within the field on each Saturday played. The competition will finish on the 3rd October 2015. Over All 1st Prize……………One Full Year Free Membership to the Ohope Golf Club Players must be Full Playing Members of the Ohope Golf Club A one-off joining fee of $15 must be paid. Players may join at any time throughout the year. R & A and USGA Rules of Golf apply…mainly “no gimmies” On the final day (3rd October) a final play off day will be played with Double Points on offer. Additional prizes will be awarded for that day’s competition. 1st Place………. $400 2nd Place ………. $240 3rd Place ………… $150 Your Golf Program sets out the days the Ohope Cup is played and on which days throughout the year extra points can be received. Regardless of the day’s competition points are allocated based on your position within that day’s field, these points will accumulate. Points are based on 1st place getter receiving 200 pts, 2nd..190, 3rd..180, 4th..170 and so on down to 5 points. Any disputes, your Match Committee will be the sole judge. New Zealand Left Handed Golf Association National Tournament to be held at Ohope The committee is pleased to announce the confirmation of the Left Handers National Golf Championships to be held at Ohope International on the 3rd to 7th of April 2016.
