International Fellowships Programme, 2015-16 Host organisation: Organhaus in Chongqing, China Dates of Fellowship: September and October 2015 For artists based in the UK Application deadline: Monday 30 March, 10am This International Fellowship will allow one UK-based artist to undertake a residency at Organhaus in Chongqing, China for 8 weeks in September and October 2015. Gasworks’ International Fellowship programme enables up to five artists each year to participate in residencies hosted by Triangle Network partners, in countries including Bangladesh, Bolivia, China, Jordan, Pakistan, Kenya, Colombia, Mauritius and South Africa. Fellowships are hosted by grass-roots, often artist-run, organisations. This context allows for greater engagement with the local artists’ community and encourages peer-to-peer dialogue and exchange of ideas. Hosts offer pastoral, administrative and curatorial support; however artists are expected to be fairly autonomous and self-directed. Fellowships are process-led, they encourage artists to develop work informed by the new context, and to re-evaluate how their practice is conceived and presented. As such, Fellowships are more focussed on process and development than on formal or product-based outcome. This programme is funded by Arts Council England. Applicants are required to submit a proposal, in no more than 300 words, illustrating how they might approach the Fellowship, and what they hope to achieve during their residency. The selection panel will be looking for flexible, context- specific and self-directed proposals.
