www.fernleafccs.org New Henderson County Charter School Receives
Green Light from the State’s Charter School Advisory Board
Hendersonville NC, March 10, 2015---
On Tuesday, March 10, the North Carolina
Charter School Advisory Board (CSAB), voted to recommend FernLeaf Community
Charter School for approval to the North Carolina State Board of Education (SBE).
This positive news was well-received by the
FernLeaf Community Charter School Board of Directors who have worked diligently for three years to make this new school a reality. “We are extremely excited to be able to bring a great new educational opportunity to families in our community. People in the area spoke, we listened, and now we can move forward with doing great things for kids”, says Michael Luplow, Chairperson of the school’s board of directors. Next steps for the school include finalizing a location for the new Henderson County school, selecting a school director, and hiring teachers in preparation for the 20162017 school year. During its first year, the school will offer two classes per grade from kindergarten through third grade, with additional classes added each year until eighth grade. Parents looking to learn more about the school can attend Henderson County’s Kindergarten Readiness Rally on March 19 at the Blue Ridge Mall or the next FernLeaf Informational Session on March 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel on Airport Road in Fletcher. To stay uptodate on the new charter school’s development process and events, parents can find more information online and subscribe to the FernLeaf newsletter at fernleafccs.org, or they can text “fernleaf” to 72727 for text alerts. ### ABOUT FERNLEAF COMMUNITY CHARTER SCHOOL FernLeaf Community Charter School is a new school for grades K8 in Henderson County, North Carolina.
