Biathlon v Mowden Hall
Sedbergh Prep entertained Mowden Hall on Saturday for the annual biathlon between the two
schools on a lovely sunny spring afternoon. There were some impressive performances from
Sedbergh athletes both in the pool and on the cross country field.
Millie Gunning (U9 girls) repeated her victory in Wednesday's biathlon, but this time she was trailing
10 seconds after the swim, so had to dig deep. Pippa North (4) and Scarlett Harrison (5) once again
showed real promise. Charlie Hattam had a great swim in the Under 9 boys race to lead by 6
seconds, but he couldn't prevent Joe DeGroote and Sebastian Smith passing him on the run, but held
onto 3rd place.
Grace Eddleston and Rosie Hattam had strong swims in the Under 10 girls event, but it was Freya
Cope who really caught the eye. She started the run 14 seconds behind in 7th place, but worked her
way through the field to come home 2nd. James Corrigan and Luke Atkinson both swam well in the
U10 boys event, but were both passed by Sam Gunning (2) on the run, as James finished 3rd and
Luke 5th.
Maddy Harrison dominated the other U11 girls as she was quickest over both disciplines. Josephine
Peart almost won the silver medal, but was pipped at the post by a strong finishing Mowden girl.
Fenn Curran was the top swimmer by 10 seconds in the U11 boys, and he tried desperately to keep
ahead of the Mowden boys, but could not quiet sustain it, coming home 5th. Tom Radford (6) and
Charlie Roper (7) both showed good consistency.
The U13 girls' race was a clean sweep for Sedbergh. Elle Heathcote was quickest in the pool closely
followed by Polly Holdsworth, Sonya Kanevskiy, Olivia Chatterley and Mel Sproul. It was Mel that
came out on top eventually, but she had to work hard to beat Elle (2) and Polly (3). Molly Barrett
worked hard on the run to come through to 5th. With 12 of the U13 boys away at the IAPS small
school 7s, the team was a little depleted, but none of the boys would have been able to live with the
speed Rowan Armitage set in the pool as he finished 6 seconds ahead of the next. Rowan couldn't
sustain his lead on the run, but never stopped trying as he came home 7th. Vladimir Kanevskiy also
swam well, and with a decent run he finished 5th overall. Mention must also go to Alex Booth who
had a terrific performance to finish 9th, one ahead of Oliver Scott.

Boys’ and Girls Biathlon v Sedbergh Primary, Dent Primary and St Mary’s Kirkby Lonsdale
Over 130 children took part in the biathlon, held at Sedbergh Prep on Wednesday, consisting of
teams; Dent Primary, St Mary’s Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh Primary and Sedbergh Prep. The format
for the day was as follows;
The children swam 2 lengths (the swim time being doubled). Then whoever was the quickest
swimmer started the cross-country first and the first back on the 1km run would be the winner.
The noise in the pool was deafening as the Under 9 girls races got underway! Millie Gunning was the
top swimmer in the pool, so with her ability on the cross-country course, she finished a comfortable
first. Pippa North, Annabel Key and Olivia Kay-Shuttleworth all swam really well, and Pippa was
unlucky to miss out on a medal, finishing 4th overall.
Felix Brakewell had a terrific swim in the Under 9 event, to lead at the half way point, but fell away
in the run to finish 15th. Sebastian Smith, Jonah Herd and Joe DeGroote were also well up the field as
they made their way to the cross country course. Joe almost caught everyone up on the run,
finishing 2nd overall, with Sebastian a close 3rd behind him. Mikey Charnley from Dent was the
deserving winner.
Similar to the Under 9 girl’s event, Maddy Harrison was the quickest in the pool in the Under 11 girl’s
competition, so won the biathlon comfortably. A strong swim, and gutsy run from Josephine Peart
gave her the silver medal.
Fenn Curran showed his undoubted swimming ability in the Under 11 boy’s competition, but he was
never going to stop Fraser Sproul, from Sedbergh Primary, hounding him down on the run, despite
being 14 seconds ahead. James Corrigan should be delighted with his efforts finishing an impressive
3rd overall, just ahead of a reinvigorated Drake Selby Boddy. Other Sedbergh Prep athletes in the top
10 were as follows;
U9 Girls
7 Annabel Key
U9 Boys
6 Jack Barker
U11 Girls
5 Alice Dunning
8 Grace Gale
U11 Boys
6 Tom Radford
8 Charlie Roper

National Prep Schools Cross Country Championships
For the first time in Sedbergh's history, the school took part in the National Prep School Cross
Country Championships at Malvern on Sunday.
The Under 11 girls got proceedings under way, and Maddy Harrison, once again, led the girls home
in 37th, working her way through the field after a slow start. Grace Gale showed her usual grit to
come 82nd. All the girls coped well with the big field, with Millie Gunning (129), Alice Dunning (135),
Rosie Bishop (166) and Freya Cope (172) running great races.
Next up were the U11 boys. Tom Mullins (60) finished ahead of Freddie Hill (72) this time, and it was
a good challenge for Sam Gunning (153), Joe Degroote (206), James Corrigan (216) and Jack Barker
(220). Only Freddie is in Y6 so the other 5 boys could be back next year.
Fresh from them their successes at the IAPS Netball Finals the day before, Melissa Sproul and Elle
Heathcote looked tired. So this only made their performances even more remarkable as Melissa,
finished 7th, one place from a medal. Elle was next home in 32nd, with strong runs from Lottie Burns
(41), Molly Barrett (47) and Polly Holdsworth (77). Unfortunately India Haydon-Wood dropped out
with a problematic ankle.
The manic starts, with so many involved, took its first Sedbergh casualty in the U13 boys race, as
Gabs Cope fell and winded himself badly and could not carry on. Captain Sam Rogerson led the team
home in 52nd, closely followed by Will Mullins (59). Oliver Melville (74) finished ahead of his
brother, Cameron (91), and Louis Gunning (142) completed the team with a solid run.
The whole event was well organised, and the experience of running in such a big event cannot be
underestimated.

1st Boys Hockey v Rossall U13 A
The Sedbergh boys played extremely well against a skilful U13 A from Rossall School, who took the
victory 2 goals to 5.
As the first half got under way, it because evident that the visitors skills would have to be
compensated by Sedbergh with passion and some serious running around. Rossall scored within 2
minutes but this was evened up shortly after by Sedbergh captain, Roman Wheatley. Youngster,
Charlie Churchouse, worked well in midfield, distributing the ball around at good pace. Walter
Keegan, showed some excellent keeping skills throughout the match whilst Luis Moya Trovato,
added some serious speed to the right wing, forming a great partnership with left winger Toby
Wheatley. The opposition scored again and with a minute to go for the half time recess, Roman
Wheatley set up his second goal, able assisted by Thomas Ogden.
The first 5 minutes of the second half outlines the final scoreboard. The boys were unfocused and
whilst trying to avoid law infractions, let the boys in white score 3 further goals. A few great
opportunities from Tom Young and Luke Buttler ended in some fantastic saves from the opposition
keeper, preventing Sedbergh from scoring again. The final whistle went and although disappointed
not to have scored again, we pleased with their effort. Overall, this was a solid performance against
an experienced side.
Result: 2 – 5 Loss

2nd Boys Hockey v Rossall U12 A
Rossall had a very talented midfielder who made our boys’ life very hard in this game. Some great
contributions from James Gray, JJ Koudiao and Charlie Hill unfortunately ended up in wide shots or
saves from the oppositions’ goal keeper. The boys tried their very best against a solid U12 A side
who moved the ball really well around the pitch. Sedbergh had several short corners in the second
half however, although not converted. Captain Iwan Thomas, continued to lead his team but the
attacking waves from Rossall kept coming. Goalkeeper Angus Gowling, played some excellent
interventions throughout the contest.
Time to get back to the practice pitch and continue to develop our game. The boys look forward to
measuring themselves against Terra Nova on Wednesday, this time away with push back at 2.30pm.
Result: 0 – 7 Loss

U13 Football v Aysgarth
There was no shortage of endeavour from the U13 team against a skilful Aysgarth team; however,
too often, in the first half, we were guilty of ‘all’ following the ball and this allowed Aysgarth to
expose us in large areas of the pitch. In total, five unanswered goals were scored. The second half
provided a much better spectacle; boys manoeuvred in their designated areas and looked to pass
the ball properly. James Gray was solid in defence and Walter Keegan made a number of very good
saves. A decent passage of interplay between C. Churchhouse, C. Ashton and V. Kanevskiy resulted in
a well-struck goal off Luke Butler’s boot. Aysgarth were worthy winners. The final score, 7:1.
Result: 7 – 1 Loss

1st Rugby VII at Ellesmere Sevens
Another succesful day for our 1st Rugby VII, this time at Ellesmere College. The boys played some
superb rugby sevens however, met defeat for the first time in the group stages.
The group stages saw our boys playing against Abberley Hall (45-0 Win), St Anselm’s (17-7 Win),
Oswestry (17-7 Win), Wrekin (22-5 Win) and our own 2nd VII (29-0 Win). Vice-Captain Tristan Duncan
was crucial in all of these wins, playing fantasticaly well at the breakdown. The team displayed some
solid rugby playing to their streghs throughout the early afternoon except against Caldy Grange,
which ended in a loss of 17 – 7. The opposition had a very fast winger who made us defend solidly
for 12 minutes. This combined with a lack of concentration and poor decision making ended in a low
point for our boys. The moral was low whilst the reflection and learning opportunity meant that they
bounced back to see the performance of the day, in the semi-final.
Opposite us, a powerful and physical Wilmslow Grammar who dominated their group stages. A
couple of minutes on the clock and the boys from Cheshire scored first. Captain Angus Gowling, got
his team together and woke them up. The next 10 minutes of the match can only be discribed as
nerve wracking and breathtaking. Sedbergh went on to score a fantastic try finished off by Cameron
Melville after a super decision by younster Tom Ogden. With a minute to go we had a 2 v 1 with 20
yards to go. We took a gamble and chipped it behind the defender, it bounced in our favour and
Oliver Melville scored to get our place in our 3rd consecutive final this season.
With only 8 minutes inbetween games, the boys bounced back and were ready to go again. Caldy
Grange awaited us and having lost to them in the group stages we knew that the game would be
tough. The boys from the Wirral scored first after a mistake at kick-off time. Three minutes of
unstopped play, fantastically controlled by premiership referee Greg MacDonald, ended in an
outstanding try by Carwyn Tuipolotu. First half over and our boys had to dig in for more, and they
did. Captain Gowling celebrated his birthday with the try of the day and Tuipolotu scored 2 further
tries to complete his hat-trick in the final. Luis Moya Trovato, was awarded player-of-thetournament after a super defensive performance in the final and some excellent tries in the group
stage.
Overall this was a great team performace. Everyone performed to the best of their ability and the
group is now firmly bonded. As a coach this is a hard time. Only 12 places available for the IAPS and
HSBC Rosslyn Park National Sevens Tour and the decisions are not getting any easier. For the players,
it is now time to recover and get ready both physically and mentally for the biggest occasion of the
season.

Under 11’s at Westville House 7’s
In true Yorkshire weather, the Sedbergh Prep under 11’s travelled to Ilkley Rugby Club for the
Westville House School 7’s tournament. The format would see each school play one another in a
round robin format. Sedbergh played Highfield first, and lost 7-21 in a bruising encounter. Next up
was Belmont Grosvenor, Sedbergh were yet again demanded to up their intensity against some large
opposition but after serval brutal phases of play and some quick hands, Sedbergh eventually ran out
winners 10-5. After a short break Sedbergh were back in action against our hosts Westville House, a
poor start meant that Sedbergh were chasing the game from the outset and were unable to convert
their pressure into points late on, eventually losing 12-14 in a disappointing performance. In our final
two games however, against Ashville and Terrington respectively, Sedbergh played some of their
best rugby. Moving the ball across the field with a great deal of purpose and accuracy, and
supporting one another in contact both in attack and defence. This increase in Sedbergh
performance resulted in two very entertaining games of rugby with both ending in deserved draws,
Ashville 14-14 and Terrington 7-7. Credit must go to all the boys who took part, for they all worked
extremely hard for one another and their improvement from Terrington two weeks ago was very
pleasing to witness. Finally a huge thank you to Westville House and Ilkley Rugby Club for hosting us
on the day, and we now look forward to the Richmond House 7’s next week.

Independent Schools’ Rugby Football Club Lambs Representatives
On Sunday 8th March 3 of our 1st XV players, Carwyn Tuipolotu, Oliver Melville and JJ Koudiao,
represented the North Squad for the ISRFC Lambs at Rugby School. This was the annual national
fixture where the North meets with the Midlands, South East and South West on a round robin
tournament. Our boys did the School proud and performed extremely well. The North lost one, drew
one and lost one, finishing joint 2nd in the competition. Congratulations must go to all 3 of our boys
for the dedication and hard work invested in order to give them an early taste of representative
rugby. I am also delighted to report that Tuipolotu was awarded man-of-the-season for the North
and has been selected to represent the U13 Independent Schools’ National side. Well done to all of
them on an excellent achievement!

1st Rugby VII at Terrington Hall
The 1st VII continued to display some fantastic rugby at Terrington, beating the home side at the Cup
Competition final 5-35.
In our first game, St Mary’s Hall, Stonyhurst put us under pressure, however the boys reacted well
with the game finishing 24-0 for a first win. We faced the hosts B team next and displayed some
quality rugby, resulting in a 26 – 0 victory. Last in the pool stages was Malton College, who had
already won their other 2 macthes, turning the game into the decider for the top place in the pool.
The boys in brown played to their strengths and scored 32 points but conceded for the first time in
the tournament; final score 32-5 and comfortably through to the next stage of the competition.
Captain Angus Gowling was physically superb at the breakdown and debutant Charlie Hill distributed
well in midfield. Luis ‘el rapido’ Moya Trovato finished off some excellent tries.
Terrington Sevens has a different format to other tournaments. The winners of each pool gets drawn
together to play another triangular before the winners of this face each other in the final. In our pool
we were pitched against St Olave’s and Cundal Manor and in the other half were Barnard Castle,
Durham and the hosts. The men from York were first up and Sedbergh played absolutely brilliantly
winning the match 22-12. Oliver and Cameron Melville were ‘electric’, not letting anyone escape
from them and Carwyn Tuipolotu imposed his physicality to our advantage. Man-of-the-tournament,
Tristan Duncan, made a tremendous try saving tackle which, 6 phases later, resulted in the try of the
day. Shortly after, our boys measured themselves against Cundal Manor and produced a solid 28 – 0
win. Thomas Ogden defended fearlessly while Roman Wheatley set up the last score with a welltimed pass in midfield. In the other side of the draw, Terrington made it through and were awaiting
us in the final. The Browns scored from the kick off after Toby Wheatley, set up Tuipulotu with an
excellent running line. 35 points were scored and towards the end the match the opposition
responded well with a great individual score from their playmaker.
An undoubtedly smooth performance for another championship. A well-earn exeat weekend awaits.

1st Rugby VII at Packwood Sevens
Our 1st Rugby VII couldn’t have started the season any better. They put on an outstanding display of
rugby sevens winning the Packwood Haugh Sevens Tournament.
It was with a serious amount of excitement that the day arrived for our squad to deliver what they
had been preparing for this term. During the pool matches our boys measured themselves against,
Adams Grammar, 31-0 Win, Moor Park, 27-7 Win and Wisbech 31-0 Win. This placed Sedbergh in
the quarter final with only 7 points conceded after 3 matches (penalty try). Luis Moya Trovato,
scored four tries showing his pace to run around the defenders, youngster Tom Ogden also scored
and Carwyn Tuipolotu displayed his power whilst carrying the ball, creating line breaks for his team
members to finish.
Once out of the knock-out stages, Abberley Hall awaited us in the quarter finals. Our boys started
unfocused but rapidly pulled back after conceding two tries. With a score of 15-12 at half time, our
boys sorted themselves out and went on to score 5 more tries in the second half. Oliver Melville was
crucial to this performance scoring 2 superb tries and chasing a 30 meter breakthrough. Captain
Angus Gowling showed great determination by tackling and turning over several balls which ended
up under the opposition posts. St Olave’s was the next hurdle and the team put on one of the best
performances of the day. Roman Wheatley distributed well in midfield and Sevens debutant, Iwan
Thomas, came on the second half and defended superbly well, setting up 2 tries. A fantastic result of
32-7. After a very tight semi-final for Bromsgrove against Kirkham Grammar, it was going to be a
superb final. Sedbergh started exceptionally well, scoring a try from the first kick off and from then
onwards all the traffic was one-way. Vica-Captain Tristan Duncan was excellent at the breakdown
securing our attack and Cameron Melville finished off several scores, showing his evasion skills and
lethal pace. Playmaker, Toby Wheatley, controlled the final’s tempo and was very effective at
generating space around him throughout the day. A final score of 48-7, secured a fantastic
championship.
Congratulations on a tremendous start to the season.

U9, U11 & U12 Cross Country at Terrington Hall
40 Sedbergh Prep runners travelled to Terrington on Monday for their annual cross-country. With
Y8s having CE mocks this week the two U13 teams were a little depleted, but this did not dampen
enthusiasm.
The U9 mixed race started with a bang, as several runners fell in the first 50 metres, including Joe
DeGroote and Jack Barker. Both boys picked themselves up, and worked their way through the field.
Jack sensationally finished 3rd, and Joe a more than respectful 6th. Millie Gunning showed her
ability by coming home 9th, and comfortably the 1st girl home.
The Under 11 girls’ race saw Maddy Harrison once again to the fore, as she romped home well
ahead of the second placed girl. With 3 of the strong runners unavailable the girls were unable to
win another team prize, but Alice Dunning (10) and Pippa Darlington (15) continued their fine
seasons.
The U11 boys saw Freddie Hill and Tom Mullins continuing their friendly rivalry. This time it was
Freddie (5) who finished ahead of Tom (7).
With other Y8’s unavailable due to exams, it was left to Molly Barrett to fly the flag. She was
delighted to come home in 1st place, with India Haydon-Wood not far behind in 3rd. Polly
Holdsworth (11) and Sofya Kanevskiy (15) both showed a clean pair of heels.
Will Mullins (8) and Gabe Cope (10) had a battle royal in the U13 boys’ race, and they were closely
followed home by a spirited Vladimir Kanevskiy (15). There were no team awards this time for our
runners, but this should not detract from some wonderful performances and effort from all the
children.

U9 & U11 Boys & Girls Swimming v Belmont Grosvenor
A fantastic afternoon of high standard swimming saw our teams performing well against some
strong Belmont swimmers.
Congratulations to Millie Gunning in her victory in the U9 girls endurance race and to Pippa North
coming first in her front crawl heat. The Under 9 boys witnessed Sebastian Smith and Felix Breakwell
winning in front crawl and backstroke respectively. Pippa Darlington had an awesome afternoon,
winning front crawl and the endurance race. Maddy Harrison also won her front crawl heat in this
category. Overall the team that carried the foremost amount of points was the U11 boys. Captain,
Fenn Curran, won both of his events, breast stroke and the endurance free style by almost a length
of the pool! Team mate, Tom Radford, also won his heat at breast stroke. In a photo finish
performance, the highlight of the afternoon, was the Medley relay with James Corrigan at back
stroke, Radford at breast stroke, Curran at butterfly and Josh Gowling at front crawl.
Congratulations must go to everyone involved for the outstanding effort and standard displayed
throughout the event. We look forward to welcoming our friends from Belmont Grosvenor at the

Boys Hockey v RGS Newcastle
A cold but bright Saturday saw us welcome RGS Newcastle for four hockey fixtures.
The first games saw our 1sts and 3rds play their U13A and B teams.
Early play was even but once Sedbergh got into their stride they played some very good hockey.
Both of these games featured some great individual goal scoring feats with skipper
Roman Wheatley notching a hat trick for the 1sts and Luis Moya Trovato and James Gray doing
likewise for the 3rds. The fact that we were so clinical in front of goal probably made the scores look
more one-sided than the games actually were.
It was then the turn of the 2nds and 4ths to play against Newcastle’s U12A and B teams.
Goals proved much harder to come by in these two games as chances went begging for both sides in
two very even games which again featured some very good hockey.
All in all a good day with the boys showing they are adapting well to hockey and taking on board the
advice given.

Rawthey Run
59 pupils from Sedbergh Prep represented the school in the Rawthey Run at Sedbergh School on
Thursday. With some recent successes confidence was high, and they did not disappoint. The U11
girls were first up, and Maddy Harrison continued her impressive form coming home with another
medal in 3rd. Alice Dunning (8) and Grace Gale (9) had a great battle throughout the whole race, and
with Rosie Bishop (14) and Pippa Darlington (17) putting in top performances the girls comfortably
won the team prize from St. Mary's Hall and Hunter Hall.
The U11 boys were up next, and once again Tom Mullins (5) and Freddie Hill (7) were battling for
medals, but this time missed out. With Drake Selby Boddy (33), Sam Gunning (43) and James
Corrigan (49) the boys finished a creditable 3rd behind Aysgarth and Mowden Hall. Mention must go
to Year 4, Joe DeGroote (37), and Year 3, Jack Barker (46), who showed real promise for the future.
At the front Fraser Sproul, from Sedbergh Primary School, smashed the course record with a time of
6 minutes 35 seconds, an astonishing 55 seconds ahead of second.
The U13 girls were favourites to take the team award, and this they did due to some fine
performances. Mel Sproul repeated her victory from the week before at Giggleswick, winning by 34
seconds. Lottie Burns (5), Elle Heathcote (6), Molly Barrett (8) and Scout Turner-Richards (12) all ran
to form to finish comfortably ahead of QES and Mowden Hall. Polly Holdsworth (15) probably put
the performance of the day in, showing real tenacity.
The final race of the day, the U13 boys, gave the boys the opportunity to improve on their 3rd team
placing at Giggleswick. All the boys showed a real willingness to put true Sedbergh effort in. They
were led in by captain Sam Rogerson (10), and with Will Mullins (11), Oliver Melville (14), Cameron
Melville (17) and Gabriel Cope (20), the boys finished an impressive 2nd behind Giggleswick. The
highlight of the day also occurred in this race as Rowan Armitage (54) fell headlong into the water at
the water jump, before getting up with a smile on his face to finish the race.
This was a very good day for the school, as the children once again showed that with effort and
determination, anything is possible. Other runners were as follows;

Catteral Shield Cross Country
The Catteral Shield cross-country was postponed on Wednesday due to heavy snow, but credit to
Giggleswick they moved the event to Thursday. Some schools were unable to attend, but it did not
detract from a really well organised and popular event. Sedbergh children were well to the fore in all
the races, none more so that in the first event, the U11 boys, where Freddie Hill and Tom Mullins
took the first two places. Freddie skipped over the mud in fine style, and Tom showed his usual
tenacity. James Corrigan had a great run in 11th, and with Tommy Calvert (16th) the boys won the
team award from St. Martin's, Ampleforth.
Maddy Harrison continued Sedbergh's winning ways in the U11 girls race, getting a good lead early
on and then maintaining it. Grace Gale had an awesome run in 4th, showing real guts and
determination, and with Alice Dunning (8) and Millie Gunning (9), the girls comfortably won the
team award ahead of Westville. Not to be outdone the U13 girls continued Sedbergh's winning ways.
Mel Sproul was a comfortable winner, and it was great to see Lottie Burns (3) coming home with an
individual medal. Molly Barrett (5) and India Haydon-Wood (8) once again ran well to give the girls
the team prize ahead of Giggleswick.
There was no pressure on the U13 boys, as they set off, to complete a clean sweep! All the boys all
ran to the best of their ability, but could not match the strength of the St. Martin's and Giggleswick
teams. Captain, Sam Rogerson, worked his way through the field to finish 8th, and with Will Mullins
(13), Oliver Melville (14) and Cameron Melville (15), the boys finished a creditable 3rd team.
The Rawthey Run next week will be a stiffer challenge for all the teams, but this was most definitely
a confidence booster.

Senior Rugby Sevens Inter-House
Our year 7 and 8 boys displayed some fantastic rugby sevens during the inter house tournament on
Saturday. Wenning came out on top, with Lune and Dee as joint runners-up and Rawthey in fourth
place. The boys put on a tremendous display of sevens played within an extremely competitive
environment and exactly in the right spirit of the sport.
In forth position, Rawthey showed some true character. Although they had some crucial men out of
the contest due to injury, they made all other Houses work hard to beat them. Angus Gowling, 1st
XV Captain, battled against adversity showing his leadership qualities. Oliver Scott returned to play
after injury and performed well whilst 2nd XV winger Bobby-Joe Hollinger contributed hugely.
In joint second place, Lune saw debutant Jorge Sanchez de Muriain playing rugby for the first time
assisted by Seb Wilman who defended vigorously and with Iwan Thomas showing some top quality
evasion skills. Carwyn Tuipolotu was unstoppable showing his power both in attack and defence.
Shared runners up Dee used Roman and Toby Wheatley as playmakers in midfield distributing the
game accordingly whilst Will Mullins and Geordan Moss broke through on several occasions getting
their side behind the defensive lines. Luis Moya Trovato finished some outstanding tries, including a
70m score where he broke several tackles and evaded most of the opposition.
Winners, Wenning House, pulled out some top performances. Captain JJ Koudiao was as powerful as
ever. Walter Keegan showed some great strength whilst carrying the ball and debutant Tom Young
contributed well to his side. Louis Gunning, Demid Skachko and Luke Butler looked after the ball well
and Charlie Churchouse finished off some good tries maximising his pace. Sam Rogerson carried well
and Thomas Ogden ran the show in midfield. Cameron Melville contributed a quality performance in
attack whilst his brother Oliver Melville produced some try-saving moments. Overall, a welldeserved championship.
This event was the stepping stone for the Rugby Sevens season ahead. I couldn't be more
enthusiastic about the months ahead with 5 tournaments to be played, including the HSBC National
Schools Sevens at the end of term. I look forward to our boys bonding as a team and performing
highly.
