Fantasia To All PBA Members: Greetings to everyone; we got a little taste of spring this month, but unfortunately the snow is not out of the forecast yet. Keep the faith, golf season is quickly approaching. Once again I remind everyone of the tax season and with a little less than a month to file, please be sure to check your W2 statements for accuracy, especially if you have line of duty days to claim. We will begin mailing out our annual fundraising mailers in a couple of weeks. I want to thank Julie, our executive assistant, for pulling it all together. We are hoping as we do each year to top our last year’s return, which was a great success. The Haverstraw Elks Law Enforcement Recognition night is on Thursday March 26, 2015, 7:00pm, cocktail hour. Congratulations to all the award recipients and special thanks to the Elks for continuing to acknowledge the work police officers do on a daily basis. On Sunday May 3, 2015 1000hrs, The Rockland County Police Emerald Society will be hosting its 15th Annual 5K Run/Walk. Proceeds of the race will benefit Gary Baisley “Rise and Walk” Gary is a brother of Orangetown Police Officer, Greg Baisley, and a volunteer fireman in Congers, NY. Gary was paralyzed after an accident in the Hudson River. The proceeds will help to pay for medical bills and a new program that is redefining the possibilities for the Spinal Cord and Paralysis community called “Push to Walk”. They collected over 82 pints of blood. This month’s meeting we also welcome Lt. Weisberg from C. P. D. who will be speaking about an opportunity for our members to participate in an educational experience called Leadership in Rockland. Also during March’s meeting D.A. Thomas Zugibe will be in attendance to discuss the Attorney Generals Plan in grand jury proceedings On March 21, from 2-6 there will be a Penguin Plunge Post Party Get together at Karma, 100 Main Street, Nyack with Live music, raffles; $20 adult, $10 children. All proceeds go directly to the Penguin Plunge families. Sunday, March 22, 2015 is the annual Saint Patrick’s Parade in Pearl River. Once again the Rockland County Emerald Society will be hosting its annual lunch and dinner at the Masonic Temple. $10.00 entry. Clarkstown PBA is hosting its annual Golf Outing May 26, 2015 Paramount Country Club, New City. Shotgun starts at 1100hrs. Contact Jason Manzella to reserve your foursome. 845-538-7648. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is holding its annual Great Strides Walk on May 31, 2015 at Albertus Magnus High School. We encourage members to support this important cause. The Ramapo Golf outing will be held on Monday, June 15th at the New York Country Club, with proceeds going to Ashlin Kiev. Registration is at 9:30, $100 donation hole sponsor, $250 for Gold Sponsor. Make checks payable to Ramapo PBA. The next Rockland County PBA meeting will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1930hrs. Please be on time the meeting will start sharp. The PBA office will begin accepting any nominations for scholarship awards. Applications can be obtained on the PBA website or at the office. The May monthly meeting will be the last day that applications will be accepted.
