Science Gallery London pre-opening FOOD season Freelance Programme Co-ordinator Background Science Gallery London is a new space, focused on 15–25 year olds, where art and science collide. A flagship project for Culture at King’s College London, it will engage over 350,000 visitors per year in cutting edge research in science, the arts and design, bringing together researchers, students, local communities and artists in new and innovative ways to stimulate fresh thinking. Science Gallery London will open in late 2016/early 2017 in a dedicated building on King’s College London’s Guy’s Campus opposite The Shard and next to London Bridge Station. Prior to opening we are running a series of experimental seasons with performances, events and activities in and around Guy’s Campus aimed at raising awareness and engaging audiences including students, academics and 15 - 25 year-olds. During autumn 2014 we ran the FREQUENCIES: Tune into Life season, and in 2015 we are running a season focussing on FOOD. The Role We are looking for a talented, creative and highly organised freelance to co-ordinate and deliver our upcoming FOOD season, a mixture of commissioned events and activities and projects identified through an open call for content. In this exciting role you will be part of a small team, leading on: Co-ordination and delivery of all FOOD related activities and events Managing and arranging event logistics, project meetings and practical aspects of the delivery of the season Liaison with artists, scientists, the Director of Science Gallery London and his team Co-ordination of a network of internal and external stakeholders Budget tracking and monitoring Co-ordination of marketing and communications requirements Contractor Specification: We are looking for someone with excellent people skills who has worked on a variety of arts/cultural projects co-ordinating a range of activities to deadlines and under pressure. In particular we require: A head for logistics with significant, demonstrable experience of working in event and exhibition organising Strong project management skills and experience Excellent problem solving skills and a positive and creative attitude to problem solving A good team player who can support, contribute and actively participate in projects A professional and friendly demeanour that inspires trust and confidence A passion for art and science and a strong interest in audience engagement Previous experience liaising with artists, scientists and academics is desirable For further information and to express an interest, please email Rebecca Ball ([email protected]) your CV by mid-day on Monday 23 March with a brief description of why you are suited to this role with particular reference to your track record working on similar projects/initiatives.
