University of Texas System Chancellor William H. McRaven leads
one of the nation’s largest systems of higher education, with nine
academic institutions and six health institutions that educate more

Prior to becoming chancellor in January 2015, McRaven was a
four-star admiral who spent 37 years as a Navy SEAL.

For more than a decade, the Texas Access to Justice Commission has
been faithfully working to expand access to justice in civil legal matters
for the poor.
The Commission works in partnership with volunteer attorneys, legal
services organizations, members of the Supreme Court of Texas, the
Texas Legislature and the U.S. Congress to reduce barriers to our
justice system for those in desperate need of help. Each year, more than
100,000 individuals receive critical legal assistance that transforms their
lives for the better.
Because of you, we can provide Legal Aid with the resources they need
to respond to the call of Veterans in need. It is an honor to fight for the
men and women who have already fought so valiantly for all of us.
When many of those Veterans come home, they face another battle:
building a new life while coping with physical and mental trauma. By
helping them obtain disability benefits or navigate a path to mental
health services, we make sure they receive the care they deserve.
And they’re not the only ones. Legal Aid also assists thousands of others
in need, including the elderly, disabled, victims of domestic violence,
and many more.
Our successes would not be possible without the help you have
extended – through your sponsorship, contributions or by donating
your time and expertise in handling pro bono cases. We are thankful
for your strong, generous support. Together, we can bridge the gap so
that all Texans have access to justice.
