HONG KONG Royal Institute of British Architects Hong Kong Chapter Great by Design Forum Date: Monday 30 March 2015 Times: 14:00 – 18:00 Venue: The Fringe, Upstairs, 2 Lower Albert Road, Central, Hong Kong FREE TO ATTEND As part of the exhibition Great by Design: British Architecture Asian Vision (proudly part of the UKTI Design is Great campaign), the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is working with the RIBA Hong Kong Chapter to deliver a public forum, which further explores the exhibition thematic. Recognised for its audacity, innovation and creativity, British architecture has formed a natural and intuitive relationship with Asian vision, foresight and entrepreneurial flair to produce some of the world’s most creative and innovative projects. This event, which is free to attend, provides an opportunity to further interrogate how these mutually beneficial relationships first formed, what each partner brings to the successful development and delivery of such ambitious and ground breaking projects and what the future opportunities are for young practices in Asia. This public forum, chaired by the RIBA President Stephen Hodder MBE, is delivered in partnership with The RIBA Hong Kong Chapter, and is supported by The Chinese University Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong. Professor Colin Fournier visiting professor at the School of Architecture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, will be the keynote speaker. His keynote will explore the themes of collaboration and creative partnerships reflected within the exhibition. Ben Warner, Managing Director of Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners; Christopher Law, Director of Oval Partnership; Matt Brook, Director of Broadway Malyan; and Stefan Krummeck, Director of Terry Farrell and Partners, will contribute to the panel discussion. These high profile figures from the industry will also be available to take questions from the floor, providing a unique opportunity for the public to find out more about how British architects and Asian partners are working collaboratively, what the impact has been on how buildings are designed, and what the future opportunities may be for young architectural practice in Asia.
