After the two teams fought to a 0-0 tie after three innings of play, the Tigers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead. Atkins rallied in the top of the fifth, scoring 2 runs, to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Charleston scored 2 un-earned runs in the bottom of the inning that increased the lead back to 3 runs, 5-2. The Red Devils cut the lead back to one in the top of the sixth inning, scoring two runs that trimmed the final score to 5-4. The come-back stalled after Atkins failed to score in their final at bat in the top of the seventh. Jordan Duvall (0-2) pitched the opening 3 2/3 innings for the Red Devils, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits. He struck out 5 and walked 5 to take the loss. The game was tied after three innings of play, but the Red devils were retired in order the final three innings of the game, and had only base runner the final four innings of the game. Scranton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Seth Siebenmorgen walked with one out, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Aaron Oldham’s single. Atkins tied the game in the bottom of the second inning. Alex Spradlin led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a passed ball, and scored with two outs on Caleb Pestel’s double to right-center field that tied the game, 1-1. Cody Griffith walked, leading off the inning, and moved to second after Siebenmorgen singled with one out. Oldham’s infield single loaded the bases. After Griffith was forced at home, Conner Roby walked, forcing in a run that gave Scranton a 2-1 lead. Atkins tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Jordan Duvall singled with two outs. Zack Harris, running for Duvall, moved to second on Colby Johnston’s single, and scored on Spradlin’s single that tied the game, 2-2. Scranton took the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning. Siebenmorgen singled, leading off the inning, and moved to third on Oldham’s single. After Oldham stole second base, Sibenmorgen was thrown out at home on William Silveira ground ball to short. Oldham moved to third on the play at home and scored moments later on a wild pitch to give the Rockets a 3-2 lead. Scranton pitcher Seth Siebenmorgen retired the side in order in the Atkins fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to preserve the one run lead and help the Rockets escape with the win. Siebenmorgen pitched 7 innings for Scranton and gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He struck out 12 and did not issue a base-on-balls to pick up the win.
