PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE: This course engages faculty to analyze complex business scenarios and create a data model—a conceptual representation of an organization’s information. Participants implement their database design by creating a physical database using SQL. Basic SQL syntax and the rules for constructing valid SQL statements are reviewed. This course culminates with a project that challenges students to design, implement, and demonstrate a database solution for a business or organization. TARGET AUDIENCES: College/university faculty who teach computer science, information technology, or a related subject. Familiarity with Database concepts. AGENDA: Teachers will attend a 5 day training which will cover topics of Database Design and Programming with SQL. The curriculum and resources are available online and the SQL commands will be practiced on the online environment called Application Express. The teachers will complete a group project on Data Modeling and on successful completion of the course project, they will become certified “Oracle Academy Instructor”, which means they can then take this course back to their students.
