Gas odorization is one main research topic over the last years. The introduction of sulfur free odorization in Germany was scientifically reviewed. Together with metrological investigations and olfactory analysis, topics like material compatibility and physical and chemical interactions also were in the focus of the studies. Another important field of activity is the gas quality, with the focus on the use of natural gas as fuel and the injection of biogas. Current projects covering the injection of gaseous fuels from renewable energy sources and on the resulting requirements on the network infrastructure, measuring and billing technology. Contact: Sampling and analysis of fuels • natural gas – sampling and analysis • natural gas as fuel – sampling and analysis • biogas, sewage gas, landfill gas – sampling and analysis • liquefied natural gas – sampling and analysis • industrial process gas – sampling and analysis • checking measurements of odorants • analysis of sulphur of gaseous, liquid and solid fuel • calorific characteristics of gaseous, liquid and solid fuel • development of sampling and analysis methods Dr. Frank Graf +49 (0) 721 96402-21 [email protected] Combustion technology The Combustion Technology Department of the DVGW-Forschungsstelle, is focused on the scientific investigation of industrial and domestic gas appliances. Particularly with regard to innovative technologies like gas heat pumps and micro CHP systems, the appliances are tested on several test benches concerning performances and emissions. The scientists also support the development of established gas application technologies in cooperation with the gas appliance manufacturers. The ongoing projects focus on optimizing fuel efficiency, reducing emissions and ensure high safety standards. Hence the DVGW-Forschungsstelle makes an important contribution to an energy-efficient, cost effective and environment friendly gas utilization for industrial and domestic users.
