Police recovers 6000 live
cartridges, 26 rifles
New Delhi: The Delhi Police recovered 6000 live cartridges
along with 26 rifles smuggled into Delhi for sale to criminals and
for other illegitimate uses.
These are additional recoveries
made in the case. Earlier, the
police had arrested three arms
smugglers and recovered 1,800
live cartridges and 11 guns from
them on March 24. The accused
have been identified as Ashok
Singh, a resident of Abaghadh,
Uttar Pradesh; Rakesh Sharma,
who hails from Morena, Madhya
Pradesh; and Ajay Sharma, who
belongs to Etah, UP. Ashok
Singh owns a gun shop in Uttar
Pradesh and another accused,
Rakesh Sharma, is a distributor
of arms in the Delhi-NCR region, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar
Pradesh.

days from April 1
Mumbai: Ministry of Railway
has decided to increase the Advance Reservation Period (ARP)
for booking accommodation in
trains from 60 days to 120 days
(excluding the day of journey)
from April 1. ‘Booking in terms
from train originating stations
will open and remain available
for 120 days,’ railway sources
said here today. There will, however be no change in the case
of certain daytime Express
trains like Taj Express, Gomti
Express, Special trains
etc,where lower time limits for
advance reservation are in force
at present. ‘There will also be
no change in the case of the
limit of 360 days provide for foreign tourists,’ sources added.

another success story as
its most-trusted launch vehicle
PSLV-C27, successfully placed
the fourth Navigational Satellite IRNSS-1D in the desired
orbit. In a flawless and textbook precision mission, the
PSLV-C27, in its 29th flight,
demonstrated its prowess by
placing the 1,425 kg satellite in
the orbit. This was the 28th
successive successful mission
of the PSLV. It was an awesome sight as the ‘XL’ version
of the 44 metre-tall four-stage
vehicle, with a total lift off
mass of 320 tonnes, roared into
the skies, spitting orange
flames and leaving trails of
smoke with a rumble that
shook the earth.
