Campus KIDS is designed for fun! This year, students will take a “road trip USA” through adventurous challenges and rotating stations. Our model keeps students interested and engaged in a variety of amusing activities, having fun while making friends. Campus KIDS is a school-based program, and children have access to outdoor playgrounds and fields as well as indoor air conditioned spaces (i.e. gym, café, library, computer lab). Campus KIDS offers flexible scheduling options, within the day and across the weeks. Parents may customize a schedule that works best for their family. The Campus KIDS Team is waiting to welcome your child! Our staff consists of seasoned coordinators, certified teachers, college students, high school mentor role models, and registered nurses. Our goal is to send home happily tired kids each day. Children are grouped by age level and led by our skilled and caring staff. Our team promotes friendship, creativity, teamwork, learning and exercise through novel activities. At Campus KIDS, the days of summer are packed with smiles, friends and great memories. Registration is now available online at www.MelroseSchools.com under the “Education Stations” link. While Campus KIDS serves mostly Melrose families, enrollment is open to students from other communities. Student enrollment will be accepted on a space-available basis, until 14 days before each respective week begins. Once capacity has been reached, we will start a waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional registrations or schedule changes may be possible with a notice of 2-weeks or more. Campus KIDS requires a registration fee of $30 per child, which is waived if students are enrolled in 2014-2015 Education Stations. A sibling discount of 20% is available. Late pick up fees are $1 per minute. “Early Discount Rates” are applicable to payments made by 6/02/15, after which time “Standard Rates” apply. Please observe that Campus KIDS is a nut-free environment. Elementary students currently enrolled in K-4th attend Campus KIDS at the Lincoln Elementary School this summer. The Lincoln is located at 80 West Wyoming in Melrose. Every Wednesday afternoon, students travel off campus to a new venue. A weekly field trip fee of $15 applies to all elementary students attending Wednesday afternoons. All students going on the field trip must be checked in by noon on Wednesdays. If they will not be going on the field trip, students must be picked up by parents before 12:00 as there is no on-site program Wednesday afternoons. While specific field trips are planned, changes/cancellation may be necessary. Elementary electives occur three mornings per week, and students will get to choose from offered content areas. Our electives will include technology, art, gym, drama, outside explorers, skill/chill zone, and swimming. More electives may be added. The swimming elective costs an additional $25/week, and covers two weekly trips to the Reading YMCA on Tuesday & Thursday mornings. The other on-site electives do not have an extra weekly fee. Swimming for elementary students is limited to 50 students per week. In order to go swimming, students must attend Tues and Thurs mornings and have fees paid in full. After the weekly capacity is reached, a waiting list will be maintained. Swimming trips are recommended only for students who are willing to take the swim test, and able to perform the following skills with two bubbles or less: swim safely to a line that divides shallow and deep end, float on back or tread water for 30 seconds, and jump into pool from side and return to edge. The pool time at the YMCA is open swim, not lessons. Plenty of outdoor water play will be provided at the Lincoln at no additional cost. This year we are piloting a fee-for-service academic enrichment option. Certified Melrose teachers will be giving math or literacy (reading and writing) lessons and practice in small groups of 1-4 children. Parents may select a day children are already at Campus KIDS, or bring them in specifically for this service Mon, Tues, or Thursday afternoons. The fee for this additional academic enrichment is $30 per 45-minute session. Registration is online. Preschool Students ages 3, 4, 5 currently enrolled in a Pre-K program are eligible to attend Campus KIDS Junior. The summer enrichment program for this age group takes place at the Franklin Early Childhood Center, located at 16 Franklin Street in Melrose. All Pre-K programming takes place on site, and students do not leave campus. We look forward to another exciting summer at Campus KIDS!
