business practices.
HOW CAN YOU PARTNER WITH US?
ORGANIZE AN EVENT
Plan and host your own Festival event! Event types include exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, talks/panel
discussions, walking tours, open studios, and public happenings. Topics can vary and may represent one or more
design disciplines. We encourage collaboration across neighborhoods, industries, and disciplines.
HELP ACTIVATE PEARL STREET PASSAGE
Pearl Street Passage will be a temporary, popup park of 10 installations in the Chinatown North/Callowhill
neighborhood. It will be free and open to the public from October 8-12th. The site will be further enlivened by
daily festival programming, including tours, live performances, talks, workshops, open studios, and demonstrations;
drawing thousands of visitors to the neighborhood each day.
Help activate Pearl Street and hold your event in the Chinatown North/Callowhill neighborhood! Several unique
venues and creative professionals call this neighborhood home and offer opportunities for hosting and/or
collaborating with you. Plus, all neighborhood event partners will receive additional marketing of their event on a
printed, pocket-sized, map and schedule distributed to all Pearl Street Passage visitors.

NEW! IMPROVED FESTIVAL COMMUNICATIONS
FESTIVAL MAPS
We’ve added a map feature to our website so festival attendees can sort events by date
and/or track to see what’s going on by location. We’ll also be printing a pocket map of
Pearl Street Passage and the Chinatown North/Callowhill neighborhood events.
EVENT GUIDE RE-DESIGN
We’ve increased the size of our event guide to 5”x 7” and designed a new, user-friendly
layout to communicate our event tracks and daily schedules more effectively.

EVENT PLANNING GUIDELINES
1. Represent DesignPhiladelphia’s mission.
Everybody loves a party - but DesignPhiladelphia is meant to be more than just a celebration. Our mission is to
demontrate, support, and promote the abilty that design has to generate innovation, solve problems, enhance daily
life, and influence the perception and economics of the region.
2. Identify your primary target audience.
Familiarize yourself with our new program tracks and the target audiences for each. Identify your primary target
audience prior to registering your event. This will determine the track that your event will fall under. Events may be
listed under one or more tracks; this will be at the discretion of DesignPhiladelphia staff.
3. Express this year’s theme.
This year’s theme is SHIFT. We challenge you to create events that SHIFT commonly-held perspectives on how design
influences everyday life. We want you to explore the SHIFT in design process, education, and practice towards a
multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach.
POLICIES
Events Must be Open to the Public
DesignPhiladelphia and the Philadelphia Center for Architecture share the common goal of educating the public on
the importance of design and the built environment in our everyday lives. Therefore, all events presented as part of
the Festival must be open to the public and we encourage you to make attending free or low cost. We understand the
need to charge will vary depending on the type and production costs of your event.
Multiple Event Listing Discount
We offer a 25% discount to event partners who are listing more than one event. Your first will be charged at the full
rate of the level you select. Each subsequent event will qualify for the discount.
SEED Scholarships
We offer a handful of scholarships every year to cover a standard event registration ($250 value). In order to qualify
for an event scholarship, you must be a current student or emerging design professional (graduated within the last
two years.) To apply, submit an event and select SEED in the payment field on the event submission form.
Payment / Confirmation
Once your event is reviewed and approved, you will receive an invoice to make payment. All events MUST be paid
for by July 31st. If you require an extension to this deadline, such as processing time for checks, please contact
DesignPhiladelphia staff as soon as possible prior to July 31st.

We’re sorry but we are unable to issue refunds for events cancelled after July 31st.
