What to Bring
Necessary items:












Sheets, blankets or sleeping bag for twin bed (long) and pillow with cover (linen
will NOT be provided)
Towels and washcloths
Personal toiletries: soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
Prescribed medicine (allergies, etc.)
Shower shoes/flip flops
Swimsuit and towel
Raincoat and/or umbrella
Insect repellent
Snacks, drinks and/or bottled water (Dorm rooms do not have refrigerators.)
Alarm clock
Valid picture ID (driver’s license, school ID, etc.)
Personal spending money (See Notes below.)

** The Summer Leadership Team will wash the camp shirts during the week. Camp shirts
will be given on Sunday.

Notes:

Bring very comfortable shoes to wear when we walk from building to building. You will
have the opportunity to change into business appropriate shoes at our destinations.

It is not necessary to buy new clothes for institute. Many students wear the same
outfits more than once because they do not usually wear them all day.

Label your belongings with your name.

It is not necessary or advisable for students to bring a large amount of cash.

If possible, pack your belongings in rolling bags or bags that are easy to transport.

Directions to Check-In on May 31, 2015
Hopkins Hall, Emory University
Parents/guardians must check-in and check-out students at Hopkins Hall.
From Interstate 20:
Take exit 60, the Moreland Avenue North exit. Turn right on Moreland Avenue. Turn right on
Ponce de Leon Avenue, which will eventually turn into Scott Blvd. Turn left on Clairemont
Road. Turn left on North Decatur Road. Turn right on Clifton Road. Turn left at the 1st light on
Fishburne Drive. Drop off student and luggage at Hopkins Hall on right. Follow directions
below to Fishburne Parking Lot.
From Interstate 75 (North or South) and Interstate 85 (North):
Take exit 248-C, the Freedom Parkway exit. Cross Boulevard; continue on Freedom Parkway;
veer left at split; continue until it ends at Ponce de Leon Avenue. Turn right on Ponce de Leon
Avenue, which will eventually turn into Scott Blvd. Turn left on Clairemont Road. Turn left on
North Decatur Road. Turn right on Clifton Road. Turn left at the 1st light on Fishburne Drive.
Drop off student and luggage at Hopkins Hall on right. Follow directions below to
Fishburne Parking Lot.
From Interstate 85 (South):
Take exit 91, the Clairemont Road exit. Turn left (east) on Clairemont and follow it
approximately 3 miles to North Decatur Road. Turn right on North Decatur Road. Turn right on
Clifton Road. Turn left at the 1st light on Fishburne Drive. Drop off student and luggage at
Hopkins Hall on right. Follow directions below to Fishburne Parking Lot.
Direction to Fishburne Parking Lot:
Go through 1st stop sign past Hopkins Hall. Turn left at 2nd stop sign. Turn left at next stop sign.
Turn right into Fishburne Visitor Parking lot. Turn right as you leave parking deck to walk up hill.
Turn left at top of hill and walk across lawn and through archway of Goizueta Business School
back to Hopkins Hall.
Directions to the Leadership Celebration Friday, June 5th, 1:30
Winship Ballroom, Emory University
From Interstate 20:
Take exit 60, the Moreland Avenue North exit. Turn right on Moreland and follow it
approximately 3 miles. Moreland will change to Briarcliff Road once it crosses Ponce de Leon
Avenue. Continue straight on Briarcliff approximately 2 miles to North Decatur Road. Turn right
and follow North Decatur a little over one mile, passing through one roundabout, to Oxford Road
intersection. Turn left on Oxford Road. At the first street on the right, turn right onto Eagle Row.
After turning, continue straight through the first and almost immediate stop sign. At the next stop
sign, turn left into Peavine Visitor Parking, located in a ground-level lot immediately before the
parking deck. Follow directions to Winship Ballroom below.

To Cox Hall:
Leave Peavine Visitor Parking Lot and walk up Dickey Drive. Woodruff P.E. Fields will be on
your left, and the Candler School of Theology will be on your right. Continue straight to the
second roundabout. Turn LEFT toward the DUC (Dobbins University Center). Take elevator up
to the ballroom. Follow 21st Century Leaders signs to event.
Dress Code
The purpose of the dress code is to uphold the image of 21st Century Leaders and to prepare
students for the business world while preserving the summer camp experience.
Professional attire is required for interviews, presentations, and the Leadership Dinner.
Males
 Business suit or sport coat with dress slacks in navy, black, gray, or brown
 Buttoned long or short sleeved dress shirt, neatly pressed and tucked in
 Tie, belt, dress socks, and leather shoes
Females
 Business suit pants or slacks or skirt with or without coordinating blazer or sweater
 Neatly pressed business blouse tucked in
 Business dress
 Leather, fabric, or micro-fiber closed toe shoes
Business casual attire is required for workshops and field trips. Business casual is classic,
neat, and appropriate for a chance meeting with a business executive.
Males
 Slacks or khaki pants, neatly pressed
 Buttoned solid shirt or polo/golf shirt, neatly pressed and tucked in
 Leather shoes and belt
Females
 Solid colored casual pants or skirts in navy, black, gray, brown or khaki
 Buttoned solid blouse or knit top, neatly pressed with proper coverage
 Leather, fabric, or micro-fiber closed toe shoes
Business Casual and Professional Attire Do’s and Don’ts
Do’s
 Jewelry should be limited to a conservative watch for men and one ring, non-dangling
earrings, and one watch or bracelet for women.
 Facial hair, if worn, should be well groomed.
 Skirts or dresses should be knee length and cover thighs when sitting.
 Makeup should be natural looking and conservative. Less is best.
 Handbags should be small and simple, and in solid colors of navy, black, brown, or beige.
Don’ts
 Jewelry in visible body piercing, other than ears
 Denim or chambray fabric clothing of any kind
 Overalls, shorts, skorts, stretch or stirrup pants, exercise or bike shorts
 Backless, see-through, tight-fitting, spaghetti straps, strapless, extremely short, or low-cut
blouses, tops, dresses, or skirts
 T-shirts, Lycra™, spandex, midriff tops, tank tops
 Sandals, athletic shoes, industrial work shoes, hiking boots, bare feet, or over-the-knee-boots
 Athletic wear or flannel fabric clothing, including sneakers
 Hats (except for religious purposes or to honor cultural traditions)
 Bolo ties
 Visible foundation garments
Camp attire is a look that is relaxed, comfortable, casual, and neat. Athletic wear, shorts, Tshirts and sneakers are acceptable as camp attire.
