Hands‐on Electronics (2 Hours) Presenter: Brian Ivie Time: Thursday, 1:00 pm – 3:15 pm Location: A whirlwind tour of what you can do with your club with electronic projects. This workshop will let you experience firsthand some of the best activities that we have done over the past 5 years in the exciting field of electronics. We'll be making a "science bug," a "dark detector" and a space invaders game. Creating 4‐H Experiences Presenter: Craig Dart Time: Thursday, 1:00 pm ‐ 2:00pm Location: Facilitation and experiential education. It’s All in the Games Presenter: Aurora Quinn Time: Thursday, 1:00 pm ‐ 2:00 pm Location: This workshop is for youth and adult leaders. I will present some fun ice breakers, get‐to‐know‐
you games, service project games and ideas, fun ways to bring the curriculum into activities and easy ways to teach youth and keep them involved. I will share a lot of games I've learned as a State Ambassador and as a Weber County Ambassador. Some of the games will be horse related because my main project area is horses, but they'll be easily adaptable to other curriculum areas. Beach Towels Bags‐ The easy way to get to the pool! Presenter: GaeLynn Peterson Time: Thursday, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Location: Using just an ordinary beach towel, a zipper, some strapping, and 1/2 yard of material, you can make an easy project for an after school program, a sewing club, or a sewing camp. This is a really good first project for kids and as an extra bonus, the beach towel bag is very useful! How to Make the Ultimate Green Smoothie Presenter: Diana Boley Time: Thursday, 1:00pm‐ 2:00pm Location: You may have heard of a green smoothie, but do you know how to make the ultimate one? In this class, you will learn how taking only 10 minutes a day! These smoothies increase the average person’s daily nutrition by at least 700%. Make your green smoothie a superfood, inexpensively and deliciously. You’ll leave this one‐hour class with recipes, and a plan to get more nutrition in a day than most Americans get in a week! Acing the Test Presenter: Michelle Simmon Time: Thursday, 1:00 pm‐2:00pm Location: Come and learn some helpful studying tips and receive a “make your own flash card packet” which covers the Horse & Horsemanship, Horse Science and Rules books that will help youth improve their scores on the 4‐H Horse test along with teaching them valuable studying skills for school and other areas. What to Choose… What to Choose? Making Sense Feed Additives for Market Beef Projects Presenter: Darrell Rothlisberger Time: 1:00pm‐2:00pm Location: Today there are so many additives to add to feed rations to enhance their performance. We will discuss many options and how to choose the right one for your program. 4‐H Fridays‐ Recruiting New Leaders Through Advisory Councils Presenter: Cindy Nelson Time: Thursday, 1:00‐ 2:00 pm Location: Providing 4‐H opportunities for elementary age youth during the school year can sometimes be challenging. Finding willing 4‐H volunteer leaders is always difficult. To solve these two problems, Beaver County implemented 4‐H Friday clubs. 4‐H Friday clubs meet six times during a four month period at local elementary schools, and teach a variety of project areas. They use Discover Club curriculum, and serve youth 3rd‐6th grade. In this workshop you will learn how to use Advisory Councils to plan clubs, contact volunteer leaders, and recruit youth. You will also receive information on how to determine youth interest, train leaders, and involve teen council members. 4‐H 101‐ Basic Training to Help Your Family Get the Most Out of 4‐H Presenter: Cassandra Spaeth Time: Thursday, 1:00‐ 2:00 pm Location: You have heard that 4‐H is the BEST; you've heard it is for everyone! But where do you start and how do you help your youth expand their horizons in 4‐H and reach their potential? This 4‐
H 101 is designed for leaders that are new to 4‐H or still FEEL new. During our hour together we will learn what 4‐H is, how it started, what sets it apart from other youth development organizations, and discuss several different ways to participate in 4‐H. Have you noticed there is a separate 4H lot under arts & crafts in the fair book just for duct tape? Come learn the basics of duct taping. You'll make a duct tape bag to take home with you. Each person will also get a "duct tape crafting kit" with exacto knife, ruler and small rotary mat. Different duct tape designs and colors will be available ‐‐ but if you want a specific color or design, please bring a roll of it. WARNING – duct tape crafting is highly addictive!
