Pre-departure Physical fitness for travel Undertaking long-distance flights and participating in a two- to three-week travel program requires physical stamina. Your level of physical fitness will greatly affect what you get out of a tour, irrespective of your age. Each detailed tour itinerary contains a summary of the physical requirements of that tour. We urge you to consider this information carefully. All of our tours require the ability to: >walk as a group for 90 minutes or more at a moderate pace with only short breaks >walk four or five kilometres on some days >get on and off a large coach unassisted >move your luggage a short distance if required >tours to archaeological sites require you to walk up steep slopes, clamber over stones and walk on uneven paths >tours with long stays in a single place generally have more walking and involve the use of local public transport, with steps, barriers and crowds >music tours involve many late nights at performances, sometimes in succession If you require more detail about the physical requirements of a tour, please contact us to discuss them in more detail. If you have a chronic condition or are recovering from a major illness we encourage you to speak to your GP before booking. If we are concerned about your ability to meet the requirements we may contact you for further information.
