Where and When
The 2015 ACEA conference will be held at the Old
Woolstore, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, from the 22 to
24 November, 2015
The Old Woolstore’s accommodation and conference
facility is centrally located in Hobart within a stone’s
throw of the city centre and just a block away from
Hobart’s majestic waterfront. Hobart has been a convict
settlement, whaling hub, ship-building port, and is today
a picturesque harbor side town. From its colourful past,
the unassuming city has risen to capture the attention
of the world, being named one of Lonely Planet’s
Top 10 Cities 2013. You may like to stay on after the
conference and experience Hobart’s intriguing cultural
experiences, world-famous fresh produce and wines or
visit unique national parks and world heritage convict
sites all within easy reach.

Conference Presentations
Presentations will be provided by national and
international speakers. The overarching theme of the
conference is: ‘What Works for Correctional Education
and Training in the 21st Century’. This theme is
intended to encourage a focus on research that adds to
contemporary evidence base which supports education
and training. The theme also encompasses innovation
in prison education in line with current opportunities
for adult learners in the community, including the role
of digital technology and a critical appraisal of how
to build on current strengths to enhance educational
performance.

An abstract for a proposed presentation or workshop
is to be no more that 300 words and will be required

The 12th Biennial Australasian Corrections Education
Association Conference will provide a forum for
the exchange of ideas and values pertaining to
education, training and employment programs
provided to people in correctional settings and under
orders in the community.
The aim of this conference is to stimulate and
support the development of best education practices
in correctional settings to assist in the rehabilitation
of adult prisoners and offenders and young people
in detention.
