Soak oats and sesame seeds in water overnight. Add choice of nuts, etc. Pour honey and coconut oil over all and mix together well. 2. Yesterday I took a cucumber, parsley, 2 fresh peaches and some Coconut Milk (Trader's Joe- can about 1/2). I added a little honey and then some frozen peach to thicken. I drank one glass. It wasn't fabulous but was refreshing. Today I threw in a Banana and it was better- made it more creamy and added a touch of sweetness. I still have some left so in the blender and back in the refrig. Should keep fine for 1-2 days. Carrie Turansky http://pinterest.com/carrieturansky/to-your-good-health/ Casey Eden Sollock Spinach, 1 pear, 1 banana, 1 apple, a little parsley, 1/2 celery stalk, water, ice! Pat Ayres Yum. Nan Betz If one gets overripe, mush it up with some olive oil & spread it on your face & scalp, then wash off 5 or 10 minutes later. You will be gorgeous! Karla Weeks Healthy family To boost weight loss 2L water 1 medium cucumber 1 lemon 10-12 mint leaves Steep overnight in fridge and drink every day. General detox. Laurie Bostwick One of my favorite comfort dishes from childhood is corned beef hash. I just made a dish that reminded me so much of it! I fried some onions & peppers in coconut oil, then added some fresh corn (stripped from the cob from supper the other night), then added a drained can each of black beans & red beans. Then I added a bit of medium salsa. I wasn't sure what I would do with it at this point. Suzanne Mazer Stewart Here's a fave veg meal of ours that's fairly "normal" but it does have beans..... 1.) Take zucchini and cut them lengthwise into thin flat strips (I usually start by cutting each zuke in half, then slicing each half until I reach the outer peel.) 2.) Brown zucchini strips in a bit of butter or olive oil in a skillet. 3.) Mash some cooked black beans with an equal amount of salsa 4.) Place the brown, crispy zucchini strips in a single layer on an oven proof plate or pie dish. 5.) Top with a thick layer of the bean/salsa mixture. 6.) Broil until slightly browned and bubbly. 7.) Sprinkle with diced avocado, sliced black olives, diced green pepper, green onions slices and corn kernels (I like frozen corn, thawed and drained) before serving. You can garnish with more salsa, and cheese or sour cream if doing dairy. Suzanne Mazer Stewart Another fairly "normal" but strange combination: Fruit and Veg Curry. I saute' green pepper, onion, apple slices and carrot slices in butter until soft. Add in curry powder, a little water, some pineapple chunks and raisins. Heat through. Serve over brown rice. Vickie Desemone Minnella My breakfast/lunch- yum!!! Vann's Whole grain waffle, spread Greek yogurt on it topped with strawberries, blueberries and a little bit of honey drizzled on the top- so yummy! Kathy Barclay My husband and I moved in with my mom and stepdad to help take care of them, Every now and then mom will have a smoothie with me, she said this one was good, it has frozen bananas, red leaf lettuce, water, peaches, and chia seeds with a smattering of raw honey and 1/2 cup of almond milk. I have to say it was more refreshing than I remembered, maybe because it's now full blown summer. Or use hempseed. Suzanne Mazer Stewart My favorite summer drink - water with raspberries and mint leaves. So refreshing! I simply put a handle of berries and a couple leaves in the bottom of a 2 quart pitcher, fill it with filtered water and let it sit overnight in the fridge. By morning, I've got my own half gallon of lovely tasting, healthy, sweet water! Suzanne Mazer Stewart Another good one is lime and blackberries together, but the lime has to be really ripe and nice, otherwise it gets a bit of a pucker factor....LOL Irma Guzman There's spinach, apple, pear, banana, and added my favorite berries: blueberries and blackberries!! Pat Ayres Yum. I tried a desert smoothie--not as nutritious, but yummy for a treat once in a while-Almond milk (I used flaxseed milk), 1 frozen banana, 1 TBS unsweetened cocoa, 1 TBS fresh almond butter. Rhonda Hepler I added avocado to mine today it was good..............kale, parsley, avocado, mango, red delicious apple, and coconut water. Fredricka Tammy Carter Johnson At one point I was adding cucumber to all my drinks because it's so refreshing. Cucumber, Celery, Grapes (Red or Green) 3.Cucumber, Pineapple Molly Ann Rice Enjoying my first ever green smoothie. Romaine lettuce, strawberries, bananas, ice. Linda Leigh Safford Banana, strawberries, blueberries, spinach, nectarine, water and ice Larsarene LaLa A It has green apples, pineapples, mango, kiwi, spinach and strawberries Keana Mae Tungupon Crockett http://www.loveumadly.com/ Fruit Roll Ups Robin Santangelo Tried broccoli smoothie with blueberries, frozen banana, frozen strawberries and of course, flaxseed! It tasted a little strange with the broccoli and challenged my mind to "drink" my favorite veggie! "Adding too much broccoli will cause the smoothie to be too thick and bitter. I found that adding banana with broccoli really helps to sweeten the taste and gives it the right amount of creaminess. I usually add one large banana per one cup of broccoli I use. Mangoes, peaches and berries help further mask the flavor of broccoli in green smoothies." Jennifer Kemper Ok, so I just made a smoothie using the following: 4 oz juice from a pineapple 4 oz water 1/2 banana 1/4 mango 1 scoop of strawberry protein powder ice http://www.linda-rd.com/blog/fruit-vegetable-calories-chart-list/ Casey Eden Sollock http://pinterest.com/pin/40602834111107946/?timeline=1 http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-5317/8-Awesome-Uses-for-Coconut-Oil.html Wendy Dobson Justis Lunch today:quinoa, broccoli, tomato, cucumber, carrots, spinach, orange bell pepper, red onion with organic garlic and evoo salad dressing. Fredricka Tammy Carter Johnson Eggplant, Kale, Grapefruit, Ginger Karla Weeks I am IN LOVE with quinoa :) I add celery, tomatoes, green onion, onions and cooked on vegg. Broth Marsha Youmans My lunch today: Seitan sautéed with onion, scallion, garlic and seasonings served with quinoa and fried plantain. My first time trying seitan. I enjoyed the whole meal! Marsha Youmans Chari & Telicia here's what I did: Cooked the quinoa in chicken broth according to the package directions with a dash of black pepper and minced onion flakes. For the Seitan ( I bought it at Whole Foods. It's the chicken flavored one) I seasoned it with black pepper, garlic powder, turmeric, and creole seasoning. Didn't add salt due to the salt content already in it because it comes pre-seasoned. In a pan, I sauteed chopped onion, scallion, and 1 garlic clove for a few mins, then added the seasoned seitan. Sautee that for 5-8 mins (til it becomes a golden brown colour). I fried up the plantain in another pan...and that's it! I was a little nervous to try the seitan because I've never been open to meat substitutes before but this was actually pretty good. I'm hoping I can trick my youngest son into eating it ;) Marsha Youmans Pasta with Zucchini, Tomatoes in a Creamy Lemon-Yogurt Sauce 8 ounces whole wheat linguine (or your pasta of choice) 1/2 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 tablespoon olive oil 3 medium (8-ounce) zucchini, cut into thin strips (3 inches long and 3/4 inch wide, like a big stick of gum) 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced 1/2 pint grape or cherry tomatoes, halved lengthwise http://www.ezrapoundcake.com/archives/13338 LINKS, ETC., FROM THE GROUP (copy and paste to view): KICK-OFF CALL: http://bit.ly/O9Lroh Summer Smoothie Recipes: http://blogs.babble.com/family-kitchen/2011/07/22/20-summersmoothie-recipes/ Cucumber/mint/lemon infused water: http://pinterest.com/pin/40602834111107946/?timeline=1 Coconut oil: http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-5317/8-Awesome-Uses-for-Coconut-Oil.html Fruit and Veggie Calorie chart: http://www.linda-rd.com/blog/fruit-vegetable-calories-chartlist/ http://www.incrediblesmoothies.com/recipes/broccoli-nutrition-and-green-smoothie-recipes/ I'm a prayin' girl: http://youtu.be/D3KfDU_v2FI Real Fruit Snacks: http://www.loveumadly.com/2012/04/100-pure-love-for-100-real-fruitsnacks/ Coconut oil http://www.keratosispilaris.org/general-discussion/5954-coconut-oil-may-best-oil.html Healthy Smoothies from Lisa Thompson's Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/nextgencounsel/healthy-smoothies/ Heal with Food: www.HealwithFood.org Infused water recipes: http://www.theyummylife.com/Flavored_Water Quinoa and Black Bean recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/quinoa-and-black-beans/ Hungry for Change documentary (watch it!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5OlRakS7vU&feature=share Is Sugar Toxic? 60 Minutes Short Documentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2mSPIjDm1w Mexican stuffed peppers with quinoa and black beans: http://www.onelovelylife.com/?p=4854 Chew Your Food: http://youtu.be/Z8MgYJ2btGw Infusion Pitcher: http://www.oneida.com/fruit-infusion-pitcher.html Fermenting: https://gnowfglins.com/ Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead: http://www.jointhereboot.com/ Carrie's pinterest board, To Your Good Health! http://pinterest.com/carrieturansky/to-yourgood-health/ Protein in veggies: http://www.jointhereboot.com/protein-the-reboot-setting-the-record-straight/ Quinoa tabouli: http://www.yumsugar.com/Fast-Easy-Healthy-Recipe-Quinoa-Tabbouleh11137955/ Aspartame: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/11/06/aspartame-mostdangerous-substance-added-to-food.aspx Detox: http://www.ph-inbalance.com/detox-cleanse Detoxification process: http://www.falconblanco.com/health/crisis.htm Smoothie recipes: http://blog.integrativenutrition.com/2012/06/47-smoothies-for-summer Quinoa protein bars http://www.fitnessblender.com/v/article-detail/All-Natural-QuinoaProtein-Energy-Bars/c5/#.T_iWvBTcgtg.facebook Lon's Summer Salad: http://finecooks.com/2012/07/lons-summer-salad.html Coconut Oil uses: http://www.keratosispilaris.org/general-discussion/5954-coconut-oil-maybest-oil.html Vegetarian meal planning: http://www.eatingwell.com/nutrition_health/weight_loss_diet_plans/diet_meal_plans/vegetarian _meal_plan?pC=1500&pT=vegetarian&pD=3 The answers are out there, and YOUR truth lies within.
