Advancement Director Job Description The Advancement Director is a member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for developing, managing and administering NHA’s fund development, admissions, and public relations plan. The Advancement Director is responsible for those programs and events relating to fundraising, alumni affairs, annual fund, volunteers, public relations, and communication. In collaboration with the headmaster, board of trustees, and on occasion campaign consultant, the Advancement Director will orchestrate the development and execution of a long-term capital campaign for the completion of the campus master plan. The Advancement Director will be responsible for managing the advancement staff and functions including annual giving, alumni relations, board of trustee relations, major gifts, grants, foundations, endowment, capital campaign, gift records and data base management, special events, communications, and planned giving program. Primary Duties and Responsibilities This is a full-time exempt salaried position serving in a senior leadership capacity for the nonprofit New Hope Academy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: o Oversee the daily operations of the department to ensure that each area performs optimally through collaboration and team building. o Implement and manage a comprehensive development program to attract the maximum gift support to New Hope Academy, including major gifts fundraising for scholarship funds, special events, future capital or endowment campaigns, and a future planned giving program through support from individuals, foundations, corporations, churches and other organizations. o Developing and leading advancement retreats, attending board meetings, and serving on board committees as requested by the Headmaster. o Responsible for ongoing and scheduled assessments of advancement staff and programs. o Implement a donor cultivation plan, including regular visits with past, current and prospective donors, working in conjunction with the headmaster to incorporate his involvement as needed. Identify, research and assess potential major donor prospects. o Oversee the maintenance of accurate donor records. o Serves as the liaison and New Hope Academy representative to the Thriftsmart Board. o Oversee appropriate methods of donor recognition, including formal acknowledgement of gifts received, as well as written correspondence and other forms of appreciation. o Planning and executing strategies for managing the school’s public and internal communication plan and brand. o Oversee alumni and parent programs which are designed to foster lifelong relationships. o Manage and expand the planned giving program o Manage communication efforts with past, current and prospective donors, keeping them informed of recent events and special needs of the school, as well as future plans when appropriate. Minimum Qualifications: o Minimum of five years fundraising experience, including annual fund management, donor relations, donor retention, donor revitalization, strategic planning, communications, admissions, and alumni cultivation. o At least two years of supervisory experience is preferred. o Commitment to the mission and vision of New Hope Academy. Uphold values consistent with the mission of the school. o Previous grant writing experience is a plus. o Proficient use of e-mail, Microsoft Office, donor database tracking, reporting and analysis. Experience with Results Plus donor software is a plus. o Excellent presentation and communication skills. o Goal-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects effectively. o Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift and carry materials to and from office. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or other advanced certification or equivalent experience a plus. Language Requirements: Proficiency in reading, writing and comprehension of the English language. Physical Requirements: The candidate should be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds, sitting at a computer, clear communication, and operating a motor vehicle.
