North Star School Gym
Have you been around the world?
Are you interested in learning about the science behind traveling?
Families of AHS Grade 7 & 8 students can stop by North Star school gym and visit stations that focus on having fun,
engaging in science, and working as a team. Students and their families will travel from station to station making water
turbines, building transportation out of KNEX, and even looking at animal skulls from around the world.
Learn how to power a light bulb just by turning bicycle pedals and so much more!
AHS Grade 7 & 8 students, please stop by between 6:00-8:00pm at one of the eight stations set up in the gym. Experience
with one station or do all eight of them!
Hosted by Science North and North Star Community School

International Day of Pink
On Wednesday, April 8 the GSA Club will be joining the International Day of Pink to
raise awareness to end bullying, discrimination, homophobia, transphobia and show
support for diversity. There will be fun activities and games throughout the school day
and a free pizza lunch. We are asking our staff and students to wear something pink
on that day--an article of clothing, a ribbon, hair dye, etc. The Day of Pink was started
in the fall of 2007 after a student in a Nova Scotia high school was bullied for wearing
a pink shirt and being openly gay. Two students saw the incident and intervened, but
they felt that it was not enough. After some thought, they got every student at the
school to wear pink as a way of saying, "Bullying stops with me. Anyone can be
bullied, but if we all stand together, we can make it stop."
