Dear Friends, It gives us immense pleasure to welcome you all to the National Airway Conference
(NAC 2015) being organised by the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Sher-IKashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, Kashmir from September, 18 – 20th 2015. The
conference is aimed at providing an insight into basic and advanced concepts of airway management
and the recent developments in airway management, with focus on difficult airway.
Eminent galaxy of national and international airway experts will share their experience through a
series of didactic lectures, case discussions and thematic sessions. There will be pro/con debates,
quiz session and poster sessions for postgraduate students. A preconference workshop will be
organised with hands on training in small groups. Additionally, an interactive video session on
specialised airway procedures with a special airway simulation workshop will be conducted to
better our understanding of airway. For the first time one day comprehensive workshop for basic
airway management will be held for non anaesthesiologists highlighting the importance of airway
management at basic level.
Kashmir is a renowned tourist destination all over the world. Its myriad tourist spots offer a great
vacation experience. Besides the interactive opportunity of the conference, you can enjoy the
serene beauty of Kashmir. We look forward for you to join us in the Kashmir in September to enjoy
the scholastic event and simultaneously be mesmerised by beauty of Kashmir.
About the venue:
The famous Mughal Emperor Jehangir has aptly said, "Agar firdous baroye zameen ast, hami asto,
hami asto hami ast – If there is paradise on earth, it's here; it's here; it's here", Kashmir is the most
popular tourist destination all through the year. The workshop and main conference will be held in
Srinagar and Gulmarg. First day of conference, with its workshop, will be in Srinagar, at Sher I
Kashmir Institute of Medical Sceinces, Soura, Srinagar, Kashmir . Srinagar with its lakes,
houseboats, heritage shrines, rich cuisine, traditional crafts and hospitable people make it a
welcoming city always. Gulmarg, meaning the meadow of flowers is a popular tourist spot both
during summer and winter. Gulmarg is famous for its gondola cable car, the second highest cable car
system in the world which takes to the most beautiful sightseeing spot of Apharwat at the height of
more than 13,000 ft. Its snow clad mountains and lovely landscape put it in the must-see list in
Kashmir. Gulmarg is popular for its world class golfing with the highest green golf course in the
world. Other attractions in Gulmarg are trekking, mountain biking and horse riding. The slopes of
Gulmarg make it the only heliskiing destination in the country. It will be a great amalgam of academic
sessions in a tranquil environment and outdoor adventure sports, which will make the participation in
NAC 2015 a memorable experience.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Delegates who wish to present free paper/poster /video presentation or photo presentation related
to airway management should follow the following procedure.
1) Video Session: Send a video on how you do any new or innovative airway related procedure.
A brief description should be sent along with a video CD which can play using VLC Media
player. The video should not exceed 5 minutes.
2) Picture Submission: Send pictures related to difficult or innovative airway management
situation with a brief description about the image in the form of a CD to conference secretariat
or email to [email protected]. The image should be in jpg format. Selected
entries will be informed by email.
3) Abstracts: Abstracts may be of airway related cases, case studies and original research. These
abstracts may be considered for oral/poster presentation
Abstracts should be structured and organized to include the following (for original research)
Objectives: State the main objective of the study
·
Materials and methods: Briefly describe the design of the study and how it was conducted
·
Results: Present the main results with an indication of variability and precision of comparison
where appropriate.
·
Conclusion: Limit the conclusions to those that are directly supported by the results.
·
(For Case Reports the abstract may be unstructured : Background, Case Summary, and
Conclusion)
Abstracts without results, or those with statements such as 'the results will be analysed and
presented later are liable to be rejected. The abstracts should adhere to follow rules:
a) Word Limit: The abstracts should be within 250 words excluding title and references.
(Graphs / tables / images should not to be included in the abstract)
b) Font Type: Abstracts should be prepared in Microsoft Times New Roman, 12 pointwith
single line spacing with the title in bold face.
c) Title must be in CAPITAL LETTERS and it should be short and concise.
d) The name of authors should follow immediately under the title along with degrees or
professional designations. The name of institution, city and country should be in lower case,
following immediately after the authors, on a different line.
e) Leave one line between the title / authors / institution block and the body of the abstract.
Researchers are allowed to submit more than one abstract as presenting author. Underline the name
of the presenting author in the abstracts.
Online abstract submission is open. Send a soft copy (by e-mail) to the Conference Secretariat
([email protected]) before August 15, 2015. In e-mail correspondence, please
mention 'Abstract' in the subject line. Abstracts will be reviewed and rated by scientific committee
prior to final decision on acceptance. Decision on your submission will be informed by email.
