Because of the short operating season of icebreakers (economical use),
Finland commissioned msv Fennica and Nordica
in 1993 and 1994.

SHELL ALASKA VENTURE 2012 •

Near 20 vessels involved.
Goal for the season was to drill wells into oil bearing zones in
Beaufort and Chukchi seas.
Only top holes were finished.
Shell has spent $6 Billion on the project so far.
