YOGA SESSION JUST FOR LAUGHS?
Practice Laughter Yoga Daily At Funny Farm
Lopatcong NJ … Laughter Yoga is creating smiles as people realize the enormous benefits
of laughter. In answer to requests the Funny Farm Laughter Club at Perfect Christmas
Tree Farm, 999 US 22, Phillipsburg NJ offers 20-minute laughter sessions seven times a
week starting Apr. 13. Meet at the stone house, rain or shine.
Sat., Sun, Tue, and Thu the sessions begin at 6:30 PM. Mon., Wed. and Fri. the session
begin at 7:30 AM. The sessions culminate with a day long community celebration of
World Laughter Day on May 3, 2015.
Laughter Yoga started in 1995 when an Indian physician named Madan Kataria was
researching an article for a health journal. He discovered many scientific studies, which
described the benefits of laughter on the mind and body. Impressed by Norman Cousins'
book Anatomy of an Illness and the research work by Dr. Lee Berk, Dr. Kataria formed
the first Laughter Club with his wife and three colleagues. They met in a park in Mumbai
and laughed together for twenty minutes, to test the results of extended laughter.
Now, twenty years later, the first laughter club has grown to over 20,000 clubs and spread
to 60 counties. This phenomenal expansion, attained by world-of-mouth alone, attests to
the positive effects laughter has on people everywhere.
And more university and hospital studies continue to show that Laughter lowers stress
levels through the release of endorphins.There is strong evidence that it also increases the
number and activity of natural cancer-killer cells thereby strengthening the immune
system. There are many recently published reports of people gaining emotional benefits
from Laughter Yoga while going through difficult life events like Tsunami and devastating
fire. Laughter Yoga Clubs give people a way to laugh when they don’t have another
reason. Laughter for no reason is a dynamic meditation, a complimentary therapy that
benefits people on dialysis, who have Parkinson's, who battle addiction and other serious
diseases.

Cynthia Curtis, owner of Perfect Christmas Tree Farm, received laughter leader training
with Vishwa Prakash of Yogalaff in NYC. She also completed a course of study with Steve
Wilson, President of the World Laughter Tour, and met with Dr. Kataria in NYC and
laughs with him, on-line.
When asked why she does laughter yoga she says, "it makes me laugh," she says with a
chuckle.. Dr. Kataria challenged me to do Laughter Yoga for 40 days and I became
happier and healthier, that fast," she marvels. "I can show others how to liberate their
laughter, and it make me happy to do it," she adds. Laughter Yoga is part of a world-wide
Peace Movement.
