KIDS’ CAMP July 27-31, 2015 Mt. Lebanon Retreat & Conference Center 1701 Texas Plume Rd., Cedar Hill, TX http://mtlebanoncamp.com We are returning to CAMP GAP this summer! Here are a few details to keep in mind. If you have questions, feel free to contact Mr. Gene. Medications - All medications for children must be kept and dispensed in the Camp Health Center. Please send medication in original containers. Place all medications in a clear gallon-size ziplock bag labeled with your child’s name and our church name (Alsbury Baptist Church). Please fill out the dosage information on your child’s registration form. Money - Kids are responsible for their own money. See the attached pages regarding “Extra Money” to determine the amount you want to send with your child. The campers will take part in a mission project, so an offering will likely be part of our worship experience. Contact information - Mr. Gene’s cell phone number is 817-564-2234. Please note that my attention will be on your children, so I may not answer the phone when you call. Please leave a message or text for your child and I will share your message with them as soon as possible. To contact the camp, see the Information for Parents page of this information packet. Departure and Return times - We will meet at Alsbury at 7:30 am on Monday, July 27. Please provide breakfast for your child before arriving at Alsbury. We anticipate returning to Alsbury at approximately 11:30 am on Friday, July 31. Behavior Expectations - Kids are expected to be on their best behavior and follow all camp rules. Should a camper choose to disobey camp rules, he or she may be sent home early without refund. It is the responsibility of the camper’s parent(s) to pick up their child from camp should the Camp Dean decide to dismiss the child from camp. Camp Security - Camp Gap is a closed camp. This means that family members are not allowed to visit campers. The camp put this rule in place to provide a safe environment and minimize the occurrences of home-sickness. KIDS’ CAMP July 27-31, 2015 WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP Bible - Since Bibles sometimes get lost or damaged at camp, we recommend bringing a Bible that doesn’t have a lot of sentimental value. Shoes - Athletic shoes are required during all recreation times. Shoes must be worn to and from the pool areas as well. (Camp rules) Clothing - Clothing must be modest. Shorts and t-shirts can be worn to all activities, including worship. (Camp rules) Swimwear - Swimwear must be modest. If swimwear is considered inappropriate by a lifeguard, the child (or adult) will be asked to wear a t-shirt. Girls must wear cover-up to and from pool area. Cutoffs and revealing swimwear are not allowed. Girls are asked not to wear bikinis. Modest one piece or two piece tankinis are required. (Camp rules) Bedding - Bedding for a twin-sized bed, pillow, blanket, or sleeping bag is recommended. Personal Items - At least one shower towel, one pool towel, shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and DEODORANT is recommended. Please encourage your child to shower during camp. The pool does NOT count as a shower. (Gene’s rules) Durable Water Bottle - We will be walking a lot. We will carry a water cooler with our group, but kids are encouraged to carry a refillable water bottle. WHAT NOT TO BRING TO CAMP Electronics - We will be very busy at camp. Part of the purpose is to get away from distractions so we can focus on our relationships with God. If you want your child to have a cell phone for emergencies, speak to Mr. Gene to make arrangements. Weapons - No guns, knives, bazookas, etc. Kids will have a chance to learn to use BB guns and bows at Camp Chuala. Misc. - No fireworks, prank-related materials (shaving cream, plastic wrap, etc.), skate boards, roller skates, or wheely shoes are allowed. KIDS’ CAMP EXTRA MONEY July 27-31, 2015 Campers are not required to bring any extra money, but they will have opportunities to purchase items at camp. Campers will receive three meals a day and a souvenir t-shirt from the camp at no additional cost. Campers are responsible for any money you decide to send with them. The following are optional things to consider for extra money. Gift Shop - Prices range from 25 cents to $20. Camp Personalities - The band and pastor leading worship will have items for sale (CDs, DVDs, T-shirts, etc.) in the dining hall. Prices typically range from $1 to $20 Crafts - Crafts will be sold at Camp Chuala. Prices range from 50 cents to $5. Pedal Carts - Tickets for the Pedal Carts at Camp Chuala are $2 per race. Canteen - Snacks and drinks are available with prices ranging from $1.25 to $2. Vending Machines - Prices range from $1 to $5. **A note from Gene: In my experience, $20 (in small bills) is sufficient for extra money. Encourage your camper(s) to either keep their money hidden or give it to one of their leaders to hold until needed. Leaving money out on bunks or running with money in socks or pockets can lead to lost or stolen money.
