Vibraflex® - Ampere Audio

Acoustic Materials - Anti-Drumming
Ampere Audio Vibraflex Extreme®
Vibraflex is a self-adhesive anti-drumming and insulation
plate made of very flexible bitumen synthetic and
special fillers. The plate combines a high specific mass
with a high internal damping. Besides anti-drumming,
also an increase in airborne sound insulation is realized.
Vibraflex is provided with a laminated PE-foil on the
visible side for protection against influences from oil,
fuel, etc.
Applications
Vibraflex i s a u n i v e r s a l l y
a p p l i c a b l e Anti-drumming and
insulation material for surfaces of
sheet steel, aluminum, wood and
plastic. Because of its suppleness
Vibraflex is especially suitable for
application on the inside of noise
insulating casings for conduits.
Sound insulation
The sound-insulation is shown in the
chart in the graph below, the
improvement of air sound insulation
value R of Vibraflex bs 50, bs 80 and
bs 100 is shown as a function of the
frequency, measured according to eN
20140. The graph on the back shows
the damping (loss factor), measured
according to eN 6721-3.

Composition
Vibraflex basic consists of four layers,
see picture. The adhesive glue (based
on solvent free acrylic copolymer)
attaches very well to a painted and
unpainted (smooth) surface.

Resistance to liquids
The anti-drumming plate is resistant to
water and oil. It is not resistant to fuels
and solvents.

Installation
• Easy cut to size and to shape with
a knife, scissors or shears, without
special tools.
• By heating Vibraflex to 60 - 80 °c
(in an oven or with an infrared
heater) it becomes so knead able,
that it can be easily applied to an
irregularly formed substrate.
• Surfaces to be covered should be dry
and free from dust and grease.
• Remove the protective plastic foil
from the adhesive layer.
• Apply Vibraflex to the substrate
and press or roll firmly to prevent
air bubbles.
• For an optimal functioning of the
self-adhesive layer it is
recommended not to install
Vibraflex at a temperature
lower than 20 °c.
• For installation overhead additional
(mechanical) fixation is
recommended.
