When you submit your abstract, please disclose any conflict of interest related to your abstract. Please also declare such conflict of interest at the time of your presentation on the day of the meeting. Oral presenters must include a statement regarding conflict of interest into the second page of their slides. Handling of Personal Information at the Annual Meeting of Japan Society of Anesthesiologists When the contents of a presentation may interfere with personal information of the patients, the presenters are required to ensure that informed consent has been obtained from all patients or their legal agents. Presentation that includes patient identifying information will be prohibited. ■Regarding General Presentations The general presentations are given in the following three categories. We ask all presenters to make preparations according to the guidelines provided for each category. 1) Excellent Poster The presentation is to be given with slides for 10 minutes and followed by a discussion for 5 minutes. There is no limit for the number of slides you can use. You also need to prepare a poster to be displayed. Please put up your posters at Kobe International Exhibition Hall, Hall No.1 Building, 1F. From each presentation session, a Best Presentation Awards presentation will be selected. The Awards will be presented at Congress Banquet on Friday, May 28, and publicized on the Society’s Web site later. 2) Poster Discussion The presentation is to be given with slides for 7 minutes and followed by a discussion for 5 minutes in the poster presentation room. Four slides are to be prepared (for the background, target and methods, results, and conclusion of the study), and a poster needs to be displayed also. If not, some characters or images may not fit to the screen due to differences in computer settings. ・ I n case you use video files, ensure that all of the path information should be maintained for links to video. You can check it by copying the data on a medium and running your presentation on a computer other than the one you used to create the data. Be sure to save the video files with the file extension .wmv or .mpg. Make sure also that you save the video files within the same folder where the presentation data is in. *Video files playable by the following programs can only be used. For Windows: Windows Media Player For Macintosh: QuickTime Player <Information for those bringing their own laptop> ・ M ini D-Sub 15 pin can only be used to connect your computer to the projector in your session room. Bring an appropriate conversion cable for your laptop if necessary (e.g. Macintosh). ・ M ake sure in advance that your laptop can properly output your presentation to an external monitor, as settings are different depending on the computer model and the operation system version. ・ T he screen resolution is XGA (1024x768). If your slides are created for a screen resolution larger than this, the whole screen may not appear. ・ D isable your screen saver and power saving settings in advance in order to prevent them from interfering with your presentation. ・ A C outlet is available at the venue. Be sure to bring your power outlet adapter for your laptop. If you are running on laptop battery, the battery might go dead during the presentation. ・ W e recommend that you save a copy of your presentation on your computer desktop. ・ M ake sure that your laptop can properly output your presentation to a preview monitor in the PC Preview Center. In particular, please note that videos and pictures may not appear correctly on the external monitor, even if they are -5- displayed properly on your laptop monitor. ・W e will return your own laptop to you at the completion of the preview. ・B ring your own laptop to the technical support staff available in the front row in your session room, 30 minutes before your session starts. ・ T he technical support staff will connect your computer to the projector. However, navigate your slides while presenting, using a keyboard/mouse and viewing the monitor at the podium (that displays the same screen as the projector). ・A fter your presentation, pick up your laptop from the technical support staff available in the front rows in your session room. ・W e recommend that you bring a backup copy of your presentation data on a USB flash drive or CD-ROM just in case any problem arises. ■Information for Presenters of Poster Discussion You can give your presentation by using 4 slides that you have prepared for your poster discussion. Computers and plasma displays are available in the session room. The presenter should save his presentation data onto the computer in the session room at least one hour (or 45 minutes in case the presentation begins at 9 a.m.) before his own session begins. On the desktop of the computer, please find and select the folder created for the session where you will participate. In that folder, you will find a folder that is named with the presentation number of your own (a number which begins with PD), and save your presentation data in your own folder. The computer available in the session room is on Windows only. Please be advised that if your file is created on Macintosh OS, such defects as garbled characters might take place. ■Information for Poster Display ・Y ou do not need to check in as a presenter. Display your posters at the designated location. ・D isplay your posters between 8:00 and 9:00 for the morning session, or between 8:00 and 13:00 for the afternoon session.
