Summer 2015 Illuminator
This year the summer reading program will highlight both the everyday and the comic
superhero. Adults can “Escape the Ordinary” and Teens will “Unmask!” with a variety
of hero themed activites. Registration for the childrens, teens and adults programs will
take place starting Tuesday, May 26 and will run through July 31, 2015.
Registration is available at the library or online at www.apld.info. Parents are encouraged
to register online as a family to easily keep track of everyone’s progression through the summer. Once registered be sure to
pickup a participation packet at the reference desk with all the information needed to complete the program.
Adults and Teens are eligible to earn basket tickets toward chances at winning one of the 20 plus gift baskets on
display at the library. The drawing for the adult and teen gift baskets will take place on Saturday, August 8 at 2 p.m.
on the main floor of the library. You need not be present to win.
Bam! Pow! Read! It doesn’t take much for children to conquer the “Every Hero Has a Story” reading program.
Teeny super readers (newborn through 35 months) will receive a list of enjoyable activities to complete with their
favorite caregiver. Accomplish any ten to earn a prize. Tiny and tween titans (3-12 years) only have to read 30 books
or log 300 minutes. We have drawings all summer long for cool prizes, but you must be enrolled in the program to
win. Those who complete the program will have a chance to win a gift card.
Join us for a supersized summer of superhero fun @ the library!

American Barn Stories
Thursday, June 25 - 7:00 p.m.
This program is dedicated to the many people everywhere
who just plain love our old American barns and to the barns

passes from them being part of an active farming scene to
becoming historical relics, we are left with some of them still
standing and some actually still functioning, albeit in various
forms of repair, condition and operation. As long as they are
here we have the chance, and the duty, to capture and portray
their stories because it won’t be long before they are all gone,
except for those tokens preserved as examples of how things
used to be. Tom Laughlin is the producer of American Barn
Stories as seen on PBS.
