The NSW Branch of the ANZFSS is delighted to announce our first Public Night of 2015 Advances in Sports Anti-Doping: Staying Ahead of the Game Plenary Speakers Dr Adam Cawley & Dr Catrin Goebel Dr Adam Cawley has 17 years experience in research related to sports antidoping and is currently Science Manager for Racing NSW. Adam holds a Ph.D in Science and Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours degrees from the University of Sydney. His efforts in anti-doping have produced more than 20 publications in scientific journals and 5 reports to Government agencies. The collaborative nature of anti-doping science has Adam actively involved in academic-industry linkages with the tertiary sector where he co-supervises 4 postgraduate students as an Adjunct Research Fellow of the ANU, a Visiting Fellow at the UNSW and an Honorary Associate of UTS. Dr Catrin Goebel is the director of the National Measurement Institute Sports Drug testing Laboratory (ASDTL) and a fellow member of the World Association of Anti-Doping Scientists. The ASDTL is a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory which conducts the testing of athlete samples from the Oceania region. She first joined the laboratory in the lead up to the Sydney Olympic Games and continued to work in the research section developing new methods for the detection of prohibited substances. Dr Goebel became the director of the laboratory in 2010.
