Summary
The purpose of this circular memorandum is to invite primary and secondary schools
to participate in the coming educational activities and events organised, co-organised or
announced by Curriculum Development Institute, Education Bureau. The educational activities
and events to be organized include Exhibition of Primary School Students’ Creative Visual Arts
Work (2014/15), International Students’ Visual Arts Contest-cum - Exhibition of Hong Kong Photography (2015) “Harmony”, Outdoor Education Camp Scheme (2015/16), International

Exhibition of Primary School Students’ Creative Visual Arts Work (2014/15)
Aims/ Objectives
This is to invite primary and secondary schools to visit the captioned exhibition.
Details
2.
The exhibition is organised by the Arts Education Section of the EDB. It aims to
display and acknowledge primary school students’ accomplishment in visual arts creation, as
well as provide an opportunity for students and teachers to learn from each other.
3.
Details of the exhibition are as follows:

Each school will receive ONE copy of the captioned exhibition’s poster within this
month for favour of posting. Please encourage teachers and students to visit the exhibition.

Schools planning group visits are requested to contact Mr CHAN Sau-fai, Bene of
the Arts Education Section on 3698 3546 for advance arrangement.
6.
In the event of public announcement by the Secretary for Education that all schools
are to be closed as a result of adverse weather conditions (e.g. tropical cyclone or rainstorm),
the exhibition will be closed on that particular day.

International Students’ Visual Arts Contest-cum-Exhibition of Hong Kong –
Photography (2015)
“Harmony”
Aims/ Objectives
This is to invite primary and secondary schools to visit the captioned exhibition.

The exhibition is jointly presented by the EDB and Po Leung Kuk. It aims to
stimulate students’ creativity, and foster international art and cultural exchange. It is hoped
that adults/leaders in various regions/countries will have a better understanding of the younger
generation, and develop planning to cater for the younger generation’s better living.
3.
Details of the exhibition are as follows:

Annex 3
Outdoor Education Camp Scheme (2015/16)
Aims / Objectives
This is to invite primary and secondary schools to participate in the “Outdoor
Education Camp Scheme” (OECS).
Details
2.
The Education Bureau (EDB) encourages schools to organise outdoor education
camps, which enable students to gain life experience in the natural environment and extend
classroom learning.
3.
Details of the OECS in 2015/16 school year are accessible from the website at

4.
Camp places of the 2015/16 school year (i.e. from 1 September 2015 to 15 July 2016)
will be open for telephone booking by schools from 19 May 2015 (Tuesday) at 0900 hours
onwards. School interested in the OECS should download the application form from the
above mentioned website. The following procedures should be adhered to:

The EDB will issue notification to respective schools and camp

have to notify the respective camp offices and the EDB in
writing at least four weeks before the commencement of the OE
Camp. The camp offices will endorse the updated information and
convey it to the EDB for record keeping and subsidy revision.
Otherwise, the camp offices may refuse other additional campers to
the campsites.
The camp offices may charge schools in
accordance with the confirmed numbers of campers even if there is
less number of campers.
Step 5: Within a week Schools should complete the “Outdoor Education Camp Scheme
after the completion of Evaluation Form” in duplicate and return them to the respective

To plan for an outdoor education camp, schools should set clear learning objectives,
work collaboratively with respective camp offices in the programme design, and assign
teachers to look after their students and help conducting some of the activities if appropriate.
7. Schools should closely observe relevant guidelines including the “Safety Measures
during School Activities” under the “Schools Safety and Insurance”, particularly the
“Guidelines on Extra-curricular Activities in Schools”, “Guidelines on Outdoor Activities”,
“Safety Guidelines on Physical Education Key Learning Area” and take necessary precaution
measures.

Annex 4
International Junior Science Olympiad 2016 - Hong Kong Screening
Aims/Objectives
This Annex is to invite secondary schools to nominate their students to take part in
the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2016 - Hong Kong Screening.
Details
2.
The IJSO is an annual science competition in natural sciences for secondary
students aged below 16. In order to identify the appropriate cohort of highly able students to
take part in the relevant pre-competition training, the co-organisers of the Hong Kong
Screening, namely the Education Bureau, the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education
(HKAGE), the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education, and Chief
Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence Teachers Association, will organise the IJSO
2016 - Hong Kong Screening on 26 September 2015 (Saturday). Students with
outstanding performance in the screening test may be offered a one-year training programme
provided by the HKAGE and be selected to represent Hong Kong to participate in the 13th
IJSO to be held in Kazakhstan in early December 2016.
3.
Schools interested in nominating students for the screening test are required to do so
through the website of HKAGE (http://ge.hkage.org.hk/en/competitions) from 4 May 2015
(Monday) to 4 September 2015 (Friday) by 5:00 p.m. Details and regulations of the
screening as well as the soft copy of the relevant poster have also been uploaded on the same
website. Please download the poster and help publicise the screening test by displaying the
poster in your school.

Results of the nomination and other details of the screening test will be released on
14 September 2015 (Monday) through the above website. School principals, teachers and
nominated students should check the result and related details on the website accordingly.
No separate notification will be given.

City Gallery Summer Planning School 2015 - “Be a Town Planner”
“Little Planners Group” and “Teen Planners Group” Programme
Aims / Objectives
The aim of this annex is to invite primary and secondary schools to participate in
the captioned programme.
Details
2.
The programme is designed to provide our younger generation with a better
understanding of town planning and various aspects of the planning process in Hong Kong.
The objective of the programme is to arouse students’ interest in town planning and the future
development of Hong Kong with an aim to nurture a new generation of young planners.
3.
The Summer Planning School curriculum includes a general introduction on town
planning and is comprised of lectures, field studies and workshops led by professional town
planners or other experts from related fields. All participants who have successfully
completed the programme will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and invited to attend
the Graduation Ceremony. As part of the experience sharing, all students’ works completed in
the workshops will be exhibited at City Gallery.
4.
The programme targets two different age groups, namely, the “Little Planners
Group” (for Senior Primary School Students) and the “Teen Planners Group” (for Senior
Secondary School Students).
