The alpaca lends a soft halo to the yarn and provides warmth; silk adds a subtle sheen to the knittied fabric and dresses up the stitches. Worked in a lace pattern with larger needles, it makes a lovely, light-as-air garment. Silky Alpaca Lace comes in 16 colors: the palette includes soft, sensuous misty shades and neutrals, and rich saturated colors as well. Rows 2 and 4: (RS) K1, *ssk, [k1, yo] 2 times, k1, k2tog, k1; rep from * to end. Row 6: K1, *yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo, k1; rep from * to end. GAUGE: 23 sts and 27 rows = 4" in Lace Pattern after blocking. Take time to save time, check your gauge. SPECIAL TERMS: yo: Yarn over (1 st increased). ssk: (slip, slip, knit) Slip 2 sts, 1 at a time, knitwise to the RH needle; return sts to LH needle in turned position and knit them together through the back loops (1 st decreased). k2tog: Knit 2 sts together (1 st decreased). s2kp: Slip 2 sts together knitwise to the RH needle, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over knit st (2 sts decreased).
