No recreational access beyond the 10km Ragwort Hill marker please. • Thin to waste operations are underway in the Clarkes Creek and Parry’s Bush areas (various side roads between the 5km Valley View and 8 Rallywoods). Expect road closures. • Roadside mowing to take place Valley View, Rallywoods and various side roads over the next week. Pakuratahi Forest . • The Rimutaka Incline will be closed to vehicles between Munitions and Ladle Bend whilst road maintenance takes place. Work will commence from the 30th of March. Puketiro Forest • Crew 36 is returning to a hauler operation operating on a dead end spur road adjacent to Curtis Flat Road. Access to the site is from 17.75km Puketiro Road • Log 7 will soon be completing harvesting operations on Cooks Ridge. • Logging traffic along Puketiro, Rallywoods, Airstrip, Valley View, Lindsays and Ragworts roads between 4am and 5pm weekdays. Radio communication on these roads at all times. Mangaroa Forest Hukinga Forest The speed limit in the Forest is 30kph Please ensure that you obey this limit. Akatarawa Forest Block • Greater Wellington Regional Council Rangers will be on Duty throughout the Forest • Devil’s Staircase route is CLOSED to ALL motorised vehicles until further notice due to maintenance • From July 1st 2014 four wheel drive clubs access will only be for current approved ARAC certified trip leaders. • Tobins Limited – Pylon maintenance (blasting and painting) will be carried out during the year (weather dependant) by Tobin’s Ltd. Vehicles and crew will be entering and exiting Maungakotukutuku gate • Electrix Limited – is working in conjunction with United Group on the Pylons off Hydro Road • Transpower – Pylon maintenance on going may involve heavy machinery on Hydro Road. • Police dog training school – will be ongoing on the roads within the Valley View area, Valley View Forest • Road washout on the Causeway. Location is marked with orange blaze. Caution required when passing this site 6 Forest Pakuratahi Forest Weekly Event Calendar Friday 17th April 2015 Parks Block • Greater Wellington Regional Council Rangers will be on Duty throughout the Forest • Rail trail access road resealing work restricted vehicle access • Horse riding ongoing – route through Maymorn, Tunnel Gully, Station Drive, Kaitoke Hill Track and Pylon Loop Track • Police dog training school – will be using the Maymorn forest for ongoing training entering and exiting via Gabities • Deer Stalkers Rifle Range – Associated clubs use Range most weekends • Contractors operating Maymorn and Mangaroa Tunnel Starting Monday 9th March 2015. Mangaroa Tunnel has reopened following initial maintenance work above the western portal.
