Carolina Shore Tour Program Workshop Let NC State Extension & the National Estuarine Research Reserve & Coastal Reserve help you lead an informative, interactive tour through a dune system and along one of our beautiful Carolina beaches. FREE, Thurs., July 30th, 6pm 6pm--8:30pm Brunswick Community College (main campus) & Caswell Beach Mission According the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program dune grasslands are reduced and degraded because of beachfront development. Maritime forests and scrubs, which are naturally highly restricted, are significantly reduced and fragmented because of barrier island development. The mission of the Carolina Shore Tour program is to conserve and improve the quality of coastal ecosystems and their benefits by educating residents and tourists on these subjects and cultivating environmental stewardship using experiential, outdoor education. Goals The Carolina Shore Tour aims to reach three goals: 1. To increase public knowledge of coastal ecosystems and the ecological services they provide. 2. To increase public awareness of personal actions that can be taken to help conserve our coastal natural resources. 3. To provide Carolina Shore Tour guides with resources to educate participants about local municipal ordinances and state statutes concerning coastal recreation. Email [email protected] to register
