Tuition scholarships for students from China and India
Academic year 2015/16
The International MA program in Archaeology and History of the Land of the Bible at Tel
Aviv University with the support of the council of higher education in Israel is proud to offer
several tuition scholarships to a limited number of excellent students from China who
wishes to broaden their knowledge and understanding of ancient Israel.
Scholarship details:

The scholarship include:
o
Full tuition assistance (15,500 USD)
o
Four weeks of Excavation at Tel Azekah (2,500 USD)
o
8-10 field trips to archaeological sites
o
Medical insurance
o
Student union membership
o
Social activities
o
Library access
o
Student fees to the university
o
Students will receive a grant of 1,500 NIS
o
Dormitory:
 All accepted students will be allocated rooms in the Einstein dormitory
 Students will be staying in a shared bedroom (2 beds per room)
 Bills and city tax are included in the dorms fees
 The Scholarship on offer covers 5 consecutive months of dormitory fees.
Accepted students will be required to pay the remaining dorm fees (600
USD X 5 = 3000)*

 When applying, students will be required to pay an application fee of 100
USD to the TAU Intentional office.
 If accepted, students will be required to pay a confirmation fee of 1000 USD
to the TAU International office, which will be refund by the end of the first
semester.
 Accepted students will be required to open an Israeli bank account.
 In case of cancelation, the application and confirmation fees are nonerefundable.

The scholarship does not include:
o
Flight tickets to and from Israel
o
Living expenses in Israel
o
5 months of dormitory fees
o
Traveling expenses in Israel
* Please note that the program will award chosen excellent students with a full dorms
grant and a living expenses grant, in addition to the full tuition scholarship. Notification of
the full dorms and living expenses grants will be announced in September 2015

After completing the application form candidates will need to submit:

Previous academic records (original BA transcript is mandatory + original transcripts
for transferred credits (if relevant), additional diplomas and transcripts are optional)
o
Two letters of recommendations
o
TOFEL or IELTS scores (minimal IELTS scores: 7.0, minimal TOFEL scores: 89)
o
Signed health declaration form
o
Copy of a valid passport
o
Photo for students ID card

Submit a personal statement/ essay: Why do you want to study archaeology? (Please
state if you have archaeological background and what interests you in the field of
archaeology of Israel).

Pay the application fee of 100 USD
Applying for the scholarship:

Complete the application to the program

Submit an abstract for thesis or final paper

Submit academic CV

All applicant will be required to write a paper:
o Candidates will receive several articles in a PDF format and two questions they will
need to answer within two weeks.
o The paper should be no linger than 3 pages
o Candidate who receive 80 or above will be qualified for acceptance
There are a limited number of scholarships available.
The scholarships will be granted on a rolling admission base.
