Doug Powell is a designer with more than 25 years of experience in a wide
range of design disciplines. A 2014 Distinguished Alumni award recipient from
the Sam Fox School of Design at Washington University in St. Louis, Doug is a
lecturer, commentator and thought leader on design issues, having presented at
a variety of national conferences and forums including the 2015 Offset design
conference in Dublin, Ireland, Bright Ideas on Minnesota Public Radio, the 2011
Mayo Clinic Transform Conference, and the 2012 TEDx ArtCenter. Between
2011-2013 Doug served as the national president of AIGA, the professional
association for design, the largest and oldest design organization in the world. He
is currently a design principal at IBM Design in Austin, Texas where he directs the
design education program.

APPAREL DESIGN BS
CANDIDATE FOR DEGREES
This program contains the names of College of Design students who
have applied to graduate from fall semester 2014 through summer 2015.
This is not an official University of Minnesota graduation list.
To graduate with distinction, a student must have a cumulative GPA
of 3.75 or higher at graduation. To graduate with high distinction,
a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher. Graduation
with designated Latin honors (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa
cum laude) is limited to students who participate in the University
of Minnesota Honors Program. Students must complete honors
requirements, including a capstone or thesis project in their major,
and, in their last 60 University of Minnesota credits, maintain a 3.50
GPA for cum laude, a 3.66 GPA for magna cum laude, and a 3.75
GPA for summa cum laude honors. Candidates for academic honors
are noted in this program.
