Bournemouth team. Be part of something amazing.
Firstly, thank you for your interest in becoming a Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival (BABTSF) Champion. If
you are over 18 years and fancy getting involved with the BABTSF, then there are plenty of opportunities on
offer - if you are passionate about the arts, friendly and energetic, we would love to hear from you!
As a BABTSF Champion (volunteer) you will have the opportunity to assist in delivering a whole range of
exciting events, both in the lead up to and during the festival. There are opportunities for volunteers to work
weekdays and weekends, daytimes and evenings – whatever your availability, please get in touch.

We're looking for people with...
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to deal with people in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Smart appearance and willingness to wear Arts Bournemouth branded clothing/ T-shirts (provided).
- An interest in the arts.
- Compliance with our Equality and Diversity Policy.

What we can offer you?

As a BABTSF Champion you will gain experience on a range of exciting events.
Arts Bournemouth will offer references for future jobs you may be applying for.
Arts Bournemouth will organise special events for all of our volunteers to meet before the festival and
to unwind after the festival.
You will have the opportunity to meet with experts in the arts management field as well as work with
both national and international professional artists.

Description of Roles
As guidance to duties, we have outlined below the general details about volunteering opportunities, what is
expected from volunteers and the varied roles available.
Visitors Services Duties







Assist with greeting the public, checking tickets, directing customers and dealing with enquiries.
Monitoring and marshalling audiences, informing supervisors or managers of any issues.
Being aware of evacuation procedures and assisting staff in ensuring evacuations are safe and quick.
Passing on any first aid, health and safety, maintenance or housekeeping issues to a Supervisor or
Event Manager.
Representing Arts Bournemouth by maintaining smart appearance and a friendly demeanor.
Knowing the seating plan and venue layout well enough to direct customers.
Box Office assistance, telephone and basic admin support.
Marketing Duties




Outdoor promotions e.g. handing out flyers.
Helping with distribution of programmes and marketing materials.
Assisting with mailing to stakeholders e.g. envelope stuffing, mail franking.
Assisting in market research/evaluation.
Production Duties





Assisting artists and technical team in set up/de-rig of work.
Assisting with costumes/make up/props/set.
Assisting technical team on sound and lighting set up.
Assisting technical team in setting up venue, painting and preparation.
Assisting with Stage Management.
Performer/ Participant


Assist with/take part in performances/events which could involve being in costume/ make up and
performing. Many of the festival’s artists and performers need extras.
Assisting with workshops.
