welcome from convenors
Dear partners in healthcare,
The 2016 ANZCA Annual Scientific meeting will be held
in the vibrant waterfront city of Auckland, with the theme
“Closer to the edge!”.
Anaesthetists have always been at the forefront of
healthcare. They are recognised leaders in anaesthesia,
acute care, resuscitation, pain management as well
as safety, quality improvement and research. This
has always been supported by innovations from
the healthcare industry in technology development,
equipment design and medication optimisation.
“Closer to the edge!” reflects our desire to push the
boundaries of what we can undertake, search for
innovative treatments and emphasises our inability
to accept the status quo. Our program will be held at
the Aotea Centre, Auckland’s largest purpose-built
conference centre, which has wide, open circulation
spaces, an abundance of natural light and is easily
accessible in the heart of the city. It will provide the
launch pad for an innovative, interactive, exciting,
educational and professional experience. Our speakers
have been asked to look to the future and discuss
emerging solutions for tomorrow’s problems. We
have recognised world leaders in anaesthesia, pain
management and intensive care from the US, UK,
Canada and Australia, who will contribute to a dynamic
and stimulating program.
Dr Michal Kluger,
Convenor
Dr Matt Taylor,
Scientific Co-Convenor
The success of any meeting depends on the interaction
with our colleagues and we invite – possibly challenge
– the healthcare industry to reflect the “Closer to the
edge!” theme in the way they present their products
to delegates.
Auckland’s advantage is its unique combination of big
city style and proximity to world-acclaimed stunning
natural beauty. Delegates of ASM 2016 will experience
outstanding food and wine, world-class shopping
and quality accommodation. They also will have an
opportunity to explore scenic wine regions, native
rainforest, beautiful beaches as well as the magnificent
Hauraki Gulf and its magical islands.
On behalf of the Australian and New Zealand College of
Anaesthetists and Faculty of Pain Medicine, the Regional
Organising Committee invites you to move a bit closer
to the edge and join us in Auckland from April 30 – May 4,
2016. The healthcare industry is a valued and vital part
of our meeting and our profession and we look forward
to having you work with us. We guarantee an excellent
venue and cutting-edge speakers in a beautiful city
beside a stunning harbour! (And maybe by then the
world’s best rugby team!)

ANZCA ASM 2016
The event
The ANZCA annual scientific meeting (ASM) is designed
for specialists and trainees in anaesthesia and pain
medicine. It is known as an exceptional meeting with
an outstanding academic and social program. The
ANZCA ASM 2016 is expected to attract more than 1300
delegates and accompanying partners from Australia,
New Zealand and other regions of the world. The
dynamic and dedicated team of anaesthetists on the
organising committee is developing an academic
and social program not to be missed.
The venue
The Aotea Centre is a performing arts and events centre
in Auckland City. Located at the western edge of Aotea
Square, off Queen Street, the centre provides cultural
venue space in the heart of the city.
The opening of the Aotea Centre in 1990 marked the
beginning of the organisation known as Auckland Live.
The centre is home to theatres, function rooms and
Auckland’s largest inner-city outdoor space, Aotea
Square. Inside the foyers you can find a large collection
of New Zealand artworks.
The workshop day will be held at the SKYCITY
Convention centre, which is ideally situated in the heart
of the Auckland CBD and is recognised as one of the
premier event destinations.
Meeting promotion
A professionally planned marketing strategy will ensure
that the benefits of supporting ANZCA ASM 2016 are
widely known across Australia and New Zealand.
This includes:
• Extensive direct-mail campaigns.
• Website and electronic promotions.
• Advertising in professional journals.
• Active promotion at all ANZCA meetings.
Why should you sponsor the ANZCA
ASM 2016?
ANZCA ASM 2016 provides a unique educational
environment dedicated to the exchange of cutting-edge
scientific research, training and commercial intelligence.
If anaesthetists, intensivists, pain medicine specialists,
trainees and allied medical personnel are part of your
target market, there is no better way to reach all of them
at one meeting than by supporting the ANZCA ASM
2016. The key benefits of sponsorship include:
• The opportunity to promote your name, to support
your brands and to maintain a high profile among
specialists before, during and after the event.
• ASM delegates are keen to improve their scientific
knowledge. Aligning your company with this
powerful educational experience demonstrates
your commitment to assisting their professional
development.
• An opportunity to consolidate corporate relationships
and expose your staff to their key markets.
• Interacting with delegates face-to-face during morning
and afternoon tea breaks, lunchtimes and the
healthcare industry cocktail reception.
• Benefiting significantly from exposure to a keenly
interested, relevant and, above all, influential audience
in an educational environment away from everyday
distractions.
• Contributing to the promotion, planning and operation
of the meeting reduces the overall cost of managing
and staging the event, enabling a higher level of
participation by delegates.
The ANZCA ASM 2016 sponsorship team would
be delighted to meet with you to discuss these
opportunities or any suggestions you may have for
promoting your products or services.
Early confirmation of your sponsorship will ensure an
even higher level of exposure. An extensive promotional
campaign, including advertisements, direct-mail
campaigns, email broadcasts and web exposure will
begin in the lead up to ANZCA ASM 2016 and the
opportunity exists for your company to be represented
as a key supporter of the meeting well in advance of
the meeting dates.
