(2) fussy cut 4-1/2” x 46-1/2” scroll

(1) 6-1/8” x width of fabric (wof) strip,
recut into (6) 6-1/8” squares
(8) 4-1/2” x wof strips, sew together
end-to-end then recut (2) 76” vertical borders and (2) 60” horizontal borders
(2) 1” x wof strips, recut (2) 23-1/2”
vertical borders and (2) 12-1/2” horizontal
borders
(11) 1-1/2” x wof strips, sew together
end-to-end, recut (8) 48-1/2” strips
and (4) 4-1/2” strips
(1) 4-7/8” x wof strip, recut into (8) 4-7/8”
squares, then cut in half on diagonal
once for (16) large triangles, appliqué
pieces as indicated on pattern pieces
(1) 5-1/4” x wof strip, recut into (5) 5-1/4”
squares, then cut squares on diagonal
twice for (20) triangles
(2) 4-7/8” x wof strips, recut into
(12) 4-7/8” squares, then cut in half
on diagonal once for (24) large triangles,
appliqué pieces as indicated on
pattern pieces
Cut appliqué flower petals using patterns
(2) 2-7/8” x wof strips, recut into (16) 2-7/8”
(cut in half on diagonal once for (32) small triangles)
(4) 2-1/2” squares, appliqué pieces as
indicated on pattern pieces
(1) 12” x wof strip, recut into (1) 12” x 24”
rectangle and (4) 2-1/2” squares
(1) 5-1/4” x wof strip, recut into
(5) 5-1/4” squares (cut on diagonal
twice for (20) large triangles) appliqué
pieces as indicated on pattern pieces
(2) 2-7/8” x wof strips, recut into (24) 2-7/8”
squares, then cut on diagonal once for
(48) small triangles
(2) 5-1/4” x wof strips, recut into (8) 5-1/4” squares, then cut on diagonal twice for (32) triangles
(3) 5-1/4” x wof strips, recut (20) 5-1/4”
squares, then cut on diagonal twice for
(80) triangles, appliqué pieces as
indicated on pattern pieces
(4) 1-1/4” wide bias strips for stems, press
in half, then in half again
Backing: 3-1/2 yds fabric A. Cut 1 piece 80” long. Cut remaining fabric in half vertically and join end-to-end. Add to side of
80” piece.
Binding: 1/2 yd fabric K. Cut (7) 2-1/4” x wof strips and sew together end to end.
Sewing
1. Following the diagram, appliqué the flowers and vase to the
center fabric K rectangle using your favorite appliqué method.
Trim rectangle to 11-1/2” x 23-1/2”.
2. Sew the fabric E 12-1/2”strips to opposite sides of the center
appliqué rectangle, then the fabric E 1” strips to the top and
bottom of the center rectangle.
3. Sew (4) corner blocks starting with the center square A and an
F triangle sewn to each side.

edges. Sew the sets to opposite

6. Sew a corner block to

opposite sides of a remaining
Side Block - Make 6
side block for 3 blocks in the
row. Position the corner blocks
so the fabric G triangles are joined together and the fabric K
squares are on the outside corners. Make 2 rows. Sew these
rows to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Follow the color
photograph of the quilt for correct position of the corner blocks in
each row.
7. Sew a 48-1/2” long fabric E strip to each side of the iris motif
fabric B borders, Make 2. Sew these borders to opposite sides of
the quilt center.
8. Sew a 4-1/2” fabric E strip to each short end of the scroll stripe
fabric B strips. Then sew a 48-1/2” strip to the long sides of the
fabric B borders. Sew the borders to the top and bottom of the
quilt center.
9. Center and sew the 76” fabric D borders to opposite sides of
the quilt with an equal amount of border fabric overlapping at
each end. Center and sew the 60” fabric D borders to the top and
bottom of the quilt with equal amounts of border overlapping at
each end. Miter the corners and trim away excess fabric.
Finishing
10. Layer the quilt top, batting and backing. Baste, then quilt the
layers together.
11. Fold the binding strips over lengthwise and press the fold line.
Line up raw edges of binding with raw edges of quilt top and sew
in place. Turn binding to back of quilt and stitch in place.
