Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (DBP) is a not-for-profit local development corporation that serves as
the primary champion for Downtown Brooklyn as a world-class business, cultural, educational,
residential, and retail destination. Working together with the three business improvement districts
(BIDs) that it manages – the MetroTech BID, Fulton Mall Improvement Association, and CourtLivingston-Schermerhorn BID – the Partnership’s diverse activities include attracting new businesses
and improving the environment for existing companies; facilitating the construction of public spaces and
streetscapes that promote an active and cohesive community; supporting and promoting Downtown
Brooklyn’s cultural assets; and encouraging a unified sense of place and an engaged civic community.
JOB P URPOSE:
The Special Assistant provides daily support to the President and supports special projects of the
Executive Team. The Special Assistant: (1) assists supervisors to meet internal and external
commitments and to accomplish their individualized goals, (2) represents their interests as needed in an
efficient, effective and professional manner, and (3) supports special projects of the Executive Team as
directed by the President. The ideal candidate will take pride in the outstanding execution of all tasks
and projects, regardless of size and scope. This role represents an excellent opportunity to develop

R OLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Special Assistant will support the President in specific tasks that support DBP. The specific
responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Prepares correspondence and other written materials for Supervisors requiring specialized
knowledge of the subject matter.
Edits and proofreads written materials for content consistency as directed.
Provides day to day calendar management and phone communications, serving as gatekeeper
and coordinator for the President. May serve as proxy to Supervisors at meetings.
Plans, organizes sets up, and, at times, attends meetings of Supervisors; researches, collects
and prepares background information or materials as necessary for meeting prep; at times may

be required to schedule sensitive and confidential appointments in conditions that require the
utmost discretion.
Assists in research, content development, and creation of presentations.
Coordinates Supervisors attendance at events, seminars and appearances including managing all
travel arrangements, providing travel itinerary and substantive information necessary to attend
events in a timely and organized manner.
Supports Supervisors with program/project management, including budgets and timeline
tracking and ensuring follow-up on action items.
Assists with the development of programmatic materials for Boards of Directors meetings.
Assists with a broad range of other administrative duties to support Supervisors.
Supports DBP’s Executive Team with special projects as directed.
Ensures strategic collaboration with appropriate internal and external personnel to accomplish
organizational goals and objectives as directed by Supervisors.
Supports Executive Team in the systematic cultivation of long term, collaborative, strategic
relationships with key organizations and individuals.
Prioritizes and manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows-up on time-critical issues.
Aggregates, organizes and manages a variety of the President’s records, documents, and files.
Performs other activities at the direction of Supervisors.

Q UALIFICATIONS
A qualified candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in administration, urban planning, real estate, economic development,
business, communications, government or another related field.
A minimum of two to four years of related experience in a fast-paced administrative role
managing multiple projects preferred.
An interest in urban planning, economic and real estate development, government and politics
and/or management of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
