Letter from the Editors
Dear all,
2014 – what a year! The past 12 months have been an exciting time for
both us and our authors.
Our titles have received international recognition, through both
worldwide media exposure and nominations for prestigious book
prizes, such as The People’s Book Prize.
We had a brilliant time at the London Book Fair in April, where
hundreds of our books were showcased to some of the key players in
the industry, and we relished the opportunity to catch up with some
of you too!
Throughout the year we embarked on many exciting new endeavours, including the production of book trailers and audio books – one
of the fastest growing mediums in today’s rapidly evolving publishing industry.
September saw the launch of our new and improved website, and we
enjoyed hearing so much of your positive feedback. We also began
producing a new monthly newsletter, and we would like to take this
opportunity to thank those of you who have signed up so far. If you
haven’t yet, you can do so at the bottom of our homepage:
http://austinmacauley.com/
Thank you all for being part of such a fantastic year – and we hope
that you have all had a great start to 2015!

Humour is invaluable as a personal
quality; it has been said that the thing
that people most recall about another
person is their sense of humour (SOH). Is
it a gift, only bestowed upon a few? Or is

the subject that can be acquired by those
with a minimal gift? Alison White thinks
so, and has written this book for people
who want to acquire that most invaluable
of personal qualities – humour.

These delightful stories chart the hapless
progress of ‘the Spoz’, from Norwich

book documents the author’s time as a

his excessive beer-drinking hampers his
success and results in several awkward
brushes with the London constabulary.

It’s 1982. The Falklands War is at its peak and covert missions
are under way on both islands. Four British Special Forces men
lie dead in a shallow hollow on East Falkland, three brutally
murdered in cold blood after surrendering to their Argentine
captors. Only Royal Marine Sergeant Harry Glass survives,
hidden under the bodies of his comrades. The brother of one
of the murdered men forces a captured Argentine officer to tell
the truth about the killings, and several months later, following
Harry’s recovery from his wounds, a black operation is sanctioned to avenge the murders of the Special Forces men. This
fast-paced story explores the mind of a soldier: his love for a
woman and the bond of brothers-in-arms. It demonstrates in
graphic detail the horrors of war and its aftermath in true ‘band
of brothers’ style.

Delve into this collection of beautiful poems - war, death, love
and politics, God and the Devil, loss - all culminating in an
expression of raw human emotion. Gyasi is a master of rhythm,
and skilfully weaves words into verse; the poems in ‘Russian
Midnights’ flow off the tongue when read aloud. The collection
can be dark and disturbing at times, with some poems having
an element of surrealism and a dream-like quality. There is a
recurring and profound sense of loss throughout the collection.
