Please Note:
Telephone and online registration gladly accepted, but fees
must be paid within 72 hours of registering or your name
may be removed from the class list.
Class fees are non-refundable due to the commitment we
have made to our instructors.
Register early, as space is limited and we are unable to offer a
waiting list for some of our classes due to scheduling conflicts.
Supplies are not included with the registration fee unless
otherwise stated. A supply list is given to the student when
the class fee is paid. Some supplies can be brought from
home; the rest is understood to be purchased at Ben Franklin
Crafts with a 10% discount on non-sale class supplies only.
If 3 or fewer students register for a class, the class will be
cancelled due to a lack of enrollment.
Samples of class projects will be on display in our store.
Students must be 16 years of age or older unless otherwise
noted.

candy making. Your skilled Wilton Method Instructor will help you

like! You will learn: how to knit with double pointed needles (no
seams!!), 2x2 ribbing, jogless joins for your stripes and extra stretchy

you have taken Beginner Knitting 1 & 2 (see above), or if you are
comfortable with the knit and purl stitches.

cables in the design. Cables are WAY easier to make than you think,

Knit a pair of cozy mittens for yourself or for a gift. You are ready to
knit styles A or B if you are confident with casting on, knitting, purling,
and knitting in the round with double pointed needles. If you have
experience knitting mittens and would like to learn new techniques,
choose mitten style C to learn cabling or mitten style D to learn
stranded color work. Prep work required: for all styles, you must knit
the cuff of at least one of your mittens prior to class.

Learn the basics of sock knitting on a smaller scale. You will learn how
to turn the heel, shape toes and graft the toe seam of your socks. You
are ready for this class if you are confident with casting on, knitting,
purling and knitting in the round with double pointed needles. Prep
work required: you must knit the cuff of at least one of your socks
prior to class.

Students in this two-part workshop will learn all about raising sheep,
selecting fleeces, skirting, washing, picking, carding and using a drop
spindle. You will also learn all the parts of the wheel, styles, wheel
ratios, angles of twist and maintenance. You will then begin the
process of creating your first yarn and will fill your first bobbin during
the workshop! This entire workshop is focused on learning to
spin. Wheels, raw wool and necessary tools for the workshop will be
provided by the teacher.

You will spend part of the class learning about
trading cards and different techniques that can be
used to make them. During the remainder of the
class you will make two or three cards using

the teacher at the beginning of the class.

This travel tote bag is different than the rest, featuring a back pocket
that converts into a sleeve and slides onto luggage handles or a sewing
machine wheeled cases! The tote bag is designed to show off different
quilt blocks and or appliqué - but it also looks great without the pieced
blocks (simpler version!). Pattern purchase required. Pieced blocks
need to be made prior to class. PRE-cutting is strongly suggested.

#39 – Thread Painting & Bead Embellishment

Use free motion quilting to embellish part of a quilt with thread. Laura
embellishes fabrics with flowers and also prints out flowers on Fabric
Paper to embellish. She will show how to add beads to the flowers
after they are thread painted. Students should have some free motion

Laura uses funky fabrics, suedes, silks, and cotton fabrics to make this
little quilt top. She will teach about fusibles and which fusibles work
best with the fabrics. All of the fabrics are built up on a piece of fusible

#41 – New Vintage Quilts/Memory Quilts

Finding the right fabric is the key to making this quilt look vintage.
Using just photos printed on fabric, fusibles and a straight stitch, you
can make this small quilt in a day. Embellish this fun project with

#42 – Bigfork Bay Pattern Company (BFBPC)

Each student will purchase a BFBPC pattern and Laura will go through
step by step with them to put it together. This is a lot of one on one
with the teacher and the student. You may pick any pattern that you
want from BFBPC, but are encouraged to pick one of the easier
patterns if this is your first time using this pattern line. Complete some
of the tracing before class so you can get right to the cutting and
making the picture come alive. (Beginner to Advanced)

NEW – Block of the Month Charm Club
Meets the third Wednesday of the month, September-June (no
meeting in May) 9:30am – 12:30pm; $5 per month. Do you love 30’s,
Civil War or Contemporary prints? This club is open to all quilters and
any fabric will work! A pattern purchase is required for BOM Charm
Club. Enjoy the monthly time together and end up with a beautiful
quilt that reflects your own personal style.

NEW - Card Maker’s Club
Meets on Saturday, four times per year, 12:00pm – 4:00 pm; no club
fee charged, but a seasonal donation of 2 or more cards for Operation
Write Home is required. OWH is a non-profit organization sharing
handmade cards with our enlisted heroes, allowing them to stay in
touch with family members and loved ones at home. Each meeting has
a seasonal theme to correspond with cards needed by OWH at that
time. You are welcome to work on any type of card-making after your
donation cards have been submitted. Stay for the whole afternoon, or
drop in for an hour or two. Bring your card making supplies and be
inspired by the creativity of your fellow crafters! Dates & themes for

Our “loosely woven group of fiber enthusiasts” meets on the second

with others who love to work with wool!

Pinner’s Anonymous (Pinonymous for short) is a fun-loving cross
between a class, a club and a party! Pinonymous meets the second

a pre-assembled kit or your own supplies) lets you be your Pinterestloving self and walk away with 1-2 cool “inspired by Pinterest” projects
