Private Pilot License Ground Theory Subject Course

Aim of Course
To provide the ground theory training for the Private Pilot License based on recognized syllabus by
the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department. The course is designed for students whose goal is to
become a pilot or to have exposure to the General Aviation.
Eligibility
The course is opened to the general public in Hong Kong. As the course will be conducted in English,
a good command on both written and spoken English is expected.
Learner Outcomes
The program has been designed so that you will gain:

An overview of private flying in General Aviation;

Knowledge and foundation designated by the Hong Kong CAD flying training requirements;

A network of local pilots with the opportunity to meet your other aviation enthusiasts;

Instruction and advice from Hong Kong CAD authorized instructors in the field;

A Hong Kong Aviation Club Certificate in Ground Course (minimum 70% attendance required).

Course Fees
HK$9,000 for non HKAC member
HK$8,000 for HKAC member

Trail Introductory Flight (TIF)-Optional
Course participant may elect to fly 0.5 hr fixed wing or helicopter introductory flight with our flying
instructors. Rates are as follows:HK $1,500 for 0.5 hr Trial Introductory Flight on Fixed Wing aircraft
HK $1,800 for 0.5 hr Trial Introductory Flight on Helicopter
(TIF time can be counted towards the PPL hours, should the student decide to go for PPL training)
Course Date & Time
Classes shall be conducted on Monday and Wednesday, from 19:30 hours to 22:00 hours. The first
class shall commence on 23 March 2015 (Monday), and graduation party shall be held on 31 May
2015 (Sunday).
Course Size
Thirty (30) participants.
Course Tutor(s)
Course tutor(s) are Hong Kong CAD authorized flying instructors.
Venue
All lectures will be conducted at the Hong Kong Aviation Club, 31 Sung Wong Toi Road,
Kai Tak, Kowloon.
Course Material
Training notes are provided at the beginning of the course.
Course Transfer, Cancellation and Class Schedule Changes
No refunds will be provided unless the request is made 10 days before the class start.
GSC is not transferable to another person.
HKAC reserves the right to reschedule class or cancel class without prior notice.
Class will be cancelled if the No.8 typhoon signal or black rainstorm warning is hoisted.
In the event of cancellation due to bad weather, class shall be rescheduled.

Trial Introductory Flight
All TIFs will be carried out on Sat 9 May 2015 (TBC) and HKAC will advise slot time to participants
at a later date.
All TIFs last for about 30mins and flight subject to weather of the day.
All scheduled TIFs cannot be cancelled or changed. Payment is not refundable and there is no
exception.
Membership of the HK Aviation Club
Course participants, who are non-member of the HK Aviation Club, will be granted a Temporary
Membership valid throughout the course. The Temporary Membership shall entitle the holder to use
the Club’s dining facilities.
Application procedures
Please complete the Application Form with copy of HKID Card and return to the Hong Kong
Aviation Club Ltd. At 31 Sung Wong Toi Road, Kai Tak, Kowloon, together with a crossed cheque
payable to Hong Kong Aviation Club Ltd. on or before 13 March 2015. Availability is on first come
first served basis.
Incomplete or unsigned registration forms will not be processed. The registration office will contact
the applicant within 7 days after receiving the registration form.
