‫ ‏‬rintVision/Argus is AVT’s flagship system for print inspection, offering a unique combination
P
of state-of-the art vision technologies to facilitate the highest level of inline process control and
quality assurance. PrintVision/Argus puts the operator in total control by ensuring that only top
quality prints are produced. At the same time it significantly reduces waste and related production
costs, giving a rapid return on investment (ROI).
PrintFlow is a built-in module that enables job and data reporting, and provides an archiving
mechanism for every printed roll feature. Operators and QA personnel can swiftly and easily gain
access to defect statistics, type and location, as well as detailed roll defect mapping and images of
defects. In addition, the PrintFlow module enables the user to edit and export the final report to a
digital file or to print it out for further material handling.
‫ ‏‬he high resolution, fast line scan (LCCD) cameras combine an unprecedented level of zoom with

a range of sophisticated algorithms, allowing the operator to explore detected defects and to fix
them in real time. PrintVision/Argus can deal with a range of faults such as color variations, doctor
blade streaks, low contrast defects as hazing and scumming, misregistration, spots, splashes etc.
The flexible, high performance system tracks them for downstream removal, and records them for
further analysis.
PrintFlow allows inspection settings parameters to be saved for use during future re-runs of the
same job.
The optional PrintFlow Manager module expands these capabilities by collating PrintFlow data
from all PrintVision platforms and allowing managers, QA and key personnel to monitor, analyze
and control the quality of the production process from their own personal computers.
Added value options
Color: IΔEal color monitoring
MasteRef: Master to Master Verification
In-line color measurement of pre-defined colors within
the repeat. IΔEal measures ΔLab and ΔE color values and
provides a graphic presentation of the color variations. All
the color deviations are reported in the system’s PrintFlow
report.
This module provides a method of comparing the current
master image with a previous print run master. MaseRef
ensures that no mistakes are made and that plates are not
worn or damaged, thereby preventing production error and
maintaining customer satisfaction.
Press Control
TransLight
Waste savings while providing fast and accurate performance.
The followings press control modules are available:
>pRegister: automatic register pre-setting and control
>iReg: semi-automatic registration make ready
> Presco: automatic Plate & Anilox pressure control
TransLight enhances the inspection of transparent and/or
semi-transparent printed material by means of a special
backlighting device that improves the image contrast. The
module provides superior detection capabilities as well as
detection of pinholes in the substrate.
RiteSeal
ABCV: Automatic Barcode Verifier
The ABCV module automatically locates, inspects, and
verifies barcode symbols anywhere on the printed repeat.
The module verifies all barcode quality parameters and
grades them according to ANSI and CEN international
verification standards.
The ABCV module can generate upon request a Barcode
Summary Report at the end of each printed roll.
WorkFlow Link
WorkFlow Link option provides increased control over waste
removal from a printed roll, while saving time in the finishing
process. The WorkFlow Link solution uses the print quality
information generated by the on-press PrintVision/Argus
system, to control the re-winder and stop it automatically
in the correct place, enabling efficient removal of defective
material.
PrintFlow Manager
PrintFlow Manager is an offline quality data management
system for monitoring production quality from a remote
PC. PrintFlow Manager enables production and quality
assurance managers remote access to all AVT PrintFlow
databases.
The RiteSeal module enables Cold Seal and Varnish
monitoring and misregistration viewing. A unique optical
and flash system design allows monitoring of clear adhesives
and varnishes. RiteSeal provides an overlay image of the
Cold Seal – superimposed front-to-back with respect to
the printed image.
Label Inserter / Ejector Interface
An interface for on-press device for automatic marking or
ejection of defected material. This interface can be used
to flag defective web sections for downstream removal.
Repeat Length Monitoring – RLM
The RLM module performs continues in-line Repeat
Length Monitoring, by measuring the distance between
adjacent cut marks of a flexible substrate, comparing it to
the distance at the beginning of the run and verifying that
it stays within a pre-defined customer required tolerance.
The RLM Automatically alerts when the repeat length is
out of the user defined tolerance, displays a history graph
and records repeat length errors in PrintFlow data base.
