‘LOVE, AGAIN’ SYNOPSIS Chloe and David Baker were once madly in love. On their 10th wedding anniversary, they could never imagine drifting apart as they vacationed in Maine with their daughter, Amanda. Now, 15 years later, they couldn’t be living more separate lives. Chloe works for a family law practice, where she helps couples who are divorcing. David works for an Internet start-up, where he recently hired a gorgeous young techie, Hayley, which makes Chloe jealous and insecure. After an anniversary party celebrating a couple who are still deeply in love after many years, Chloe and David confide in their friends that they’ve grown distant. Each believes the other works too much, and David sleeps in the guest room. Nothing has been the same since Amanda grew up and moved out. Finally realizing they might be heading for divorce, Chloe and David are resigned to the inevitable. But then, Amanda arrives unexpectedly with her boyfriend Jeremy to announce their engagement. As Chloe and David pop the champagne, they are both emotional; they don’t want to ruin the happy moment with their divorce decision—especially because Amanda has no idea their marriage is even on the rocks. Amanda is still inspired by her parents’ lasting love, which leads to another big announcement: she’s decided to get married the very next weekend, at that same resort in Maine. Chloe and David decide they can’t tell Amanda about their marital trouble before her wedding, and must fake their happiness. The Baker family arrives in Maine, with Chloe and David forcing smiles for the sake of their daughter. Everything is as beautifully scenic as it was years ago, when they vacationed there in happier times. They meet Nico, the event coordinator for the wedding. He promises to make it perfectly romantic. Amanda is exuberant, unaware of the tension between her parents. Nico shows Chloe and David to their room—the same room they had 15 years ago—but it doesn’t spark a reconnection. Then, the Bakers meet Jeremy’s parents, Stan and Brittany. They are the complete opposite of Chloe and David, affectionate and in love. Watching their happiness and hearing them talk excitedly about their life together, Chloe is sad. Chloe and David both try to bury themselves in work calls, and avoid each other. The next morning, Amanda wants to scout out a ceremony location near a suspension bridge where she has great memories. Chloe confides in David that the trip to the bridge wasn’t as romantic as Amanda remembers, because Chloe is scared of heights and got sick. Before they leave, David heads down to the gift shop, where he runs into the beautiful dance instructor, Sophia. He asks her if she’ll help him with some dance moves so he doesn’t embarrass himself at the wedding, and just as they are laughing together, Chloe sees them. She storms away, hurt, but David assures her he isn’t moving on yet. The group hikes up to a scenic point Amanda thinks would be the perfect spot to get (more) HALLMARK CHANNEL/ ‘LOVE, AGAIN’ – Synopsis – Page 2 married. David gives Chloe a pair of dizziness bracelets he bought in the gift shop, to help her with her sickness, and Chloe is touched. Nico tells them about a special stone called the halo, which is said to bring joy to all those who have it. Chloe is wistful as she remembers that David bought her a necklace made of halo stones, but she lost it. Nico starts to lead everyone back to the resort on the rickety old suspension bridge, but Chloe is too scared. David crosses back to calm her down, and tells the others to keep going. Chloe is again moved by his gesture, and they reminisce about other trips they’ve taken, and risks they’ve taken along the way, momentarily forgetting their troubles. After they all make it back to the resort, David gets a call from Hayley. Chloe watches him, lost in thought. Amanda approaches, noticing her mom’s discontent. Amanda assumes David’s business is causing them stress as he tries to get his project off the ground. Compared to Chloe’s successful career, David must feel pressure not to fail. Chloe considers this, never realizing the stress David has been under. That night, the couples all go to a dance party at the resort, where Chloe and David awkwardly hang back. But when the MC starts the limbo, David can tell Chloe wants to dance, and offers his hand. Even though he is a terrible dancer, they end up having a great time. Back in their room, Chloe and David laugh and collapse on the bed, exhausted. Chloe tells David he can share the bed with her, and to her surprise, she even finds herself cuddling close to him in the night. The next day, as Amanda, Jeremy and their parents look over more wedding arrangements, Chloe and David get lost in the meaningful memory of their own wedding. But a call from Hayley breaks their moment. Hayley has bad news—the new website crashed in front of the investors. Noticing David is upset after the call, Chloe approaches him and he finally confides in her about his business trouble. She reassures him and, without thinking, takes his hand, but immediately drops it, feeling awkward. After their moment, David buys Chloe a new halo stone necklace, and takes it up to their room. But before he can go in, he overhears Chloe on the phone with her boss talking about filing divorce papers. Although she is talking about her clients, David assumes she’s decided to go through with their own divorce. Devastated, David walks off to the beach, lost in thought. Sophia approaches him and offers to give him that dance lesson, and David reluctantly agrees, still hoping not to disappoint Amanda at the wedding. Chloe walks in on them again, and David runs after her. As they talk about if their marriage is salvageable, Amanda interrupts them, having heard everything. Chloe and David finally sit Amanda down and tell her they are separating. Amanda is emotional and shocked, as she insists they are the perfect couple. When Chloe and David tell her they just grew apart, Amanda wonders how she could make her own marriage last, if her parents couldn’t. Crying, she storms out. Jeremy tries to comfort Amanda, but their conversation quickly leads to an argument and Amanda second guesses their own relationship.
