Shelly did an excellent job with her clay creatures and how she gets
children acvely involved by having everyone work with air dry clay
and create a creature.
Shelly also works with clay that is fired and has a studio in her

SPECIAL INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
Arst DUANE J. PIEPER of Gretna, Nebraska has received three Special Recognion
Awards in the "17th Annual Judeo-Chrisan Juried Online Internaonal
Art Exhibion" hosted by
Upstream People Gallery of Omaha, Nebraska. This internaonal exhibion received
approximately 115 entries from around the world and
23 arsts were selected by the juror Laurence Bradshaw, Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, U. S. A.
Professor Bradshaw states the following about this specially recognized work:
"'DUANE J. PIEPER of Gretna, Nebraska adds a special dimension to his subject ma<er
with the use of cold and encausc wax together with various mixed media. His “Back
to the Garden” shows the moving toward and the peace in the garden. The cool overlapping scene and the warm garden scene work well together. His “Lion of Judah” really becomes effecve with the wax as well as the added media. And “Watchmen on the
Walls” again with the strength of the media, make the scene even more dynamic."'

Winner of the Bellevue Arst Spirit Award for the A.C Lo5on High Schoo Art
Show : Meet Janie Ford from Bellevue East High School.
WE received a very thought letter of thanks fro Glenda Larson Musilek; judge for the ANAC
show for BAA.
‘There was a creative body of work presented for preliminary jurying process. It was a joy to
see what your artists created. There were paintings of abstracts, representational and whimsical styles as well as abstract and representational prints. In additional there were nicely glazed
creative abstract ceramic pieces.
The jurying process can often be difficult and is always subjective to the Jurers vision. When
work does not make it through the jurying process, it sometimes has to do with how well a
piece or art can hold its own against all art presented. Naturally one looks for overall creativity,
quality, design, and composition and technical skills when reviewing the art work. I have
sleceted the stronger pieces for the show.
I hope that my critiques were received as the positive critiques. A critique is often just an opportunity to present a different way of thinking or looking at an existing piece of art.
Thankyou for the opportunity and experience in and of itself.”
I thought others would be interested as I was in this letter. Glenda is the first judge to say
thankyou for the opportunity.
