It’s Alive!: Making Monsters—Kate Cunningham

Through stories, comic books, and movies, monsters are a part of contemporary life. In this
course we discuss monsters, look at artists who have used the monster for inspiration, make
our own monsters, and maybe even become monsters ourselves. Students explore surrealist
art, mask-making, dioramas, portraits, and Japanese Kiaju art.
