Iris is a very comfy hoodie with
a kangaroo pocket.
Can also be sewn without hood.

*with a fabric width of 140 cm

Cutting / Preparation
Please Note: The sewing allowance (already been included) for this pattern
is 0,75cm in all pieces!
Choose your size and copy the pattern onto pattern tracing paper. Tissue paper
for copying patterns can be found in fabric and notions stores.
Place the pattern pieces onto the fabric, the marked sides showing up.
Consider the cutting plan below.
( 1 ) To have a nice and finished look also on the inside, the hood will be sewn
using a flat-felled seam. A larger sewing allowance has already been included
in the pattern.
Cut all pieces!
Please Note: A sewing allowance of 1 cm has already been included into the pattern!
Unless otherwise noted the sewing allowance measures 1cm. A hem allowance is
marked in the pattern.
( 2 ) Place the hood pieces right sides together. The outer and bottom edges are
matching up. The hood edge of the right hood piece (5) is larger than the left
hood piece (4) by 0,75cm. Close the seam using a sewing allowance of 0,75cm
from the left hood piece’s edge. Press seam open.
( 3 ) Fold in the larger edge and fold over shorter edge. Press. Stitch down close to
edge.
Copy all marks from the pattern pieces to the left side of the fabric pieces using
dressmaker’s carbon and a tracing wheel.
( 4 ) Neaten the edge of the hood with a zigzag-stitch and press in 3cm. Topstitch.
( 5 ) Neaten the triangle with a zigzag-stitch and press in sewing allowance. Pin
to the front according to the marks and topstitch.
Please Note: The triangle can also be sewn with raw edges after cutting back
the sewing allowance.
Cutting Plan Sewing Pattern Iris
The fabric is laid out in one single layer. The right side of the fabric is showing up.
The pattern pieces are placed and pinned onto the fabric with the marked sides
showing up.
( 6 ) Neaten the edges of the pocket openings and press in 3cm. Topstitch.
( 7 ) Fold in sewing allowance of the other pocket edges, press and topstitch.
Stitch the pocket to the front according to the marks.
Pleas Note: The kangaroo pocket can also be sewn on with raw edges. For t
his cut back all sewing allowances except for the pocket openings.
Follow step 6, cut open the fold of the pocket openings. Stitch the pocket to
the front according to the marks.

( 8 ) Close the raglan seams at the front and back. For this pin the sleeves to the
back right sides together. Make sure to match up marks. Sew. Neaten sewing
allowances using a zigzag-stitch. Press seams down.
( 9 ) Now pin the front of the sleeves to the front right sides facing each other.
Sew. Neaten sewing allowances using a zigzag-stitch. Press seams down.
( 10 ) Close the sleeve and the side seams in one continuous seam. Neaten sewing
allowances using a zigzag-stitch. Press seams towards the back.
( 11 ) Pin the short edges of the cuffs right sides together to form a ring and sew
along the short edges. Neaten sewing allowances using a zigzag-stitch.
Press seams towards the side.
( 12 ) Fold cuffs in half lengthwise and pin to the sleeves right sides together
the raw edges matching up. Sew. Neaten sewing allowances using a
zigzag-stitch. Fold cuffs out and press well.
( 13 ) Pin the short edges of the waistband right sides together to form a ring
and sew along the short edges. Neaten sewing allowances using a
zigzag-stitch. Press seams towards the side. Fold waistband in half lengthwise
and pin to the bottom of the shirt right sides together the raw edges matching up.
Sew. Neaten sewing allowances using a zigzag-stitch. Fold waistband down
and press well.
( 14 ) Pin the short edges of the neckband right sides together to form a ring
and sew along the short edges. Neaten sewing allowances using a zigzag-stitch.
Press seams towards the side.
( 15 ) Pin the hood to the neckline right sides together. Match the marks of
the back middle and overlap the hood about 4 cm (see marks).
( 16 ) Fold waistband in half lengthwise and also pin to the neckline matching up raw
edges. The hood is sandwiched in between the shirt bodice and the neckband.
Stitch hood and neckband to the neckline. Neaten sewing allowances using a
zigzag-stitch. Press down.
Please Note: You may also sew Iris without the hood and attach the neckband only.
