A Special Thank You From the Youth Minister Staff Search Committee:
We thank Jerry Smith and the personnel committee for their support and approval of our candidate
and for helping us through this process.
We thank Lisa Logan and the finance committee for their approval and support.
We thank Harold Smith and the deacons for a good turnout at the meeting on Thursday and for their
support.
We thank Jenny Nail for the sweet blessing of making tea for our Friday evening meal.
We thank the fellowship committee for being willing not to be served, but to serve. Your sacrifice of
time is deeply appreciated. Thank you for providing such a wonderful meal Saturday evening and
for being so kind and helpful in facilitating a sweet time of fellowship.
We also thank the Lydia Sunday School Class for providing us with so many delicious desserts
Saturday evening at the fellowship meal and Dot Curry for making all the tea. Thank you for your
delicious gifts.
We thank Robin Martin for helping with breakfast on Sunday morning.
We thank the youth and youth workers for your help on Sunday and for making Shane and Silvi feel
welcome here.
We thank each of you who came to the business meeting. A unanimous vote was hoped for and we
thank you so much for your support of Shane and Silvi.
"Thank you!" to those of you who have been praying for this situation and for our committee
throughout our search. We appreciate your support and encouragement and believe the Lord has
answered your prayers. We are very excited to see all that the Lord has in store for Becks Baptist
Church!
As chairperson, I would like to again thank the committee members for their time and dedication
during this process: Jay Doub, Paul Flinchum, Julie Hoover, John Mikolaitis, and Debbie Stafford. I
have enjoyed spending these last few months with you, getting to know you better and watching the
Lord work in our midst.
I would also like to thank Jerry W. Smith, Lisa Logan, Harold Smith, Pastor Karl and Pam Pizzino
for answering all of my many questions as I navigated this process and Cheryl Craig for her help
with the newsletter and the Phone Tree message.
With deepest sincerity,
Laura Edwards

ANNOUNCEMENTS
th
we will begin our Wacky Wednesday
for 3 through 6 graders. A church member recently asked me what Wacky
Wednesday was and what do we do. I realized when asked this question, not
everyone understands the term Wacky Wednesday.
rd
th
This is a term used throughout churches for summer programs that happen on
Wednesday nights. Our regular children’s choirs and our mission programs for
children do not meet in the summer. Wacky Wednesday is a program that is
different each week. The program is structured to allow children to miss a
Wednesday and have no make-up because we are not earning badges or awards.
The time is designed to be fun and full of activities while teaching Bible
principles. Pray for our children as we teach these truths this summer.
God made you and loves you.
God is powerful. He created everything –
including you. (Genesis 1:1 Romans 1:20) God is personal
and wants to be your friend. (John 3:16; Romans 8:38-39)
God knows everything about you. Every person sins against God.
(Daniel 9:4-5; Romans 3:23) Every person will pay for sin,
including you. (Romans 5:12; 6:23a)
Jesus died to forgive your sins.
Jesus left heaven and lived a sinless life on
earth. (Matthew 1:21; John 10:10; 1 Peter 2:22) Jesus took the
punishment that you deserved. (1 Peter 2:24; Romans 5:8)
Jesus rose to give you new life!
You can trust Jesus to become God’s child.
(John 1:12; 14:6) You can trust Jesus and receive new life.
(John 5:24;2 Corinthians 5:17)
Are you ready to trust Jesus as your Savior?
Pray to God and tell Him the following:
•
Admit that you have sinned and need forgiveness.
•
Thank God for sending Jesus to die on the cross to
forgive your sins.
•
Tell God that you trust Jesus as your personal Savior
and you choose to follow Him.
•
Ask God to make you the kind of person He wants
you to be.
Trust God to empower you.
Jesus lives forever inside of you. (Galatians 2:20;
John 10:28, 15:5) The Hoy Spirit will always guide you.
(John 16:13; Acts 1:8)
If you do not know these truths, then I pray that you will come to know them and
learn how much God loves each of us. If you do know these truths, use them and
the scripture references to help someone you love know them, too.
Yours in Christ,
Michael M. Styers
