JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE New Product Development Technologist REPORTING STRUCTURE The job holder will report to the NPD Manager The job holder has no direct reports MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE Under the direction of the NPD Manager, take responsibility for the NPD kitchen, develop products through continuous improvement and also assist with the generation of new product ideas, make product samples as requested and develop and maintain all new product standards. MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES All activities are to be carried out within the policies and procedures of the Group, as set out in the Employee Handbook. KEY ACTIVITIES Customer Sample Preparation and Delivery Prepare & execute samples based on the NPD Team requirement and in accordance with all procedures in place Ensure sample quality meets the required standards prior to dispatch Liaise with Reception/Front of House to organise dispatch of samples and follow up to ensure receipt Ensure samples are stored correctly, safely & tidily and used within required date codes Maintain a log of samples sent out and therefore stock levels within the sample area NPD Kitchen Management Ensure all equipment used in sample preparation is cleaned regularly in accordance with laid down standards Ensure all raw materials stock levels are maintained Maintain all machinery and report any faults if necessary NPD Projects Liaise with ingredients suppliers to provide samples of ingredients and packaging for new product samples Work with the Technical and Production Departments, to assist with the generation of new product ideas and concepts from innovation through to the factory scale production of the finished product Prepare and execute samples for internal assessment in accordance with all procedures in place Manage and present products on taste panels as required Undertake and keep up to date all NPD project paperwork, including recipes and product standards LOCATION This position is based at the Company’s sites in North Dean, Buckinghamshire. Some planned travel may be required to the Company’s other site in Cheshire or to shop for ingredients or competitor products for sampling. HOURS OF WORK 40 Hours per week, 08:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break each day.
